Let me start by saying that both flavors were incredibly rich and delightful. The gelato base was creamy and smooth, providing the perfect canvas for these unique flavors to shine.
The Black Sesame Tangyuan gelato was a true delight. It captured the essence of the traditional dessert by infusing the gelato with the flavors of black sesame and tangyuan, a chewy rice dumpling. What set this flavor apart was the addition of mochi within the gelato, adding a delightful texture and surprise with every bite. The black sesame flavor was robust and nutty, while the mochi provided a chewy contrast that elevated the overall experience.
As for the Tofu Pudding gelato, it was a revelation. The flavor was reminiscent of a ginger-sweetened syrup commonly found in traditional Chinese desserts. The gelato captured the delicate taste of tofu pudding perfectly, offering a creamy and silky texture that melted in the mouth. The addition of the ginger-infused syrup-like sauce added a delightful sweetness and a touch of warmth to the overall flavor profile.
Both flavors showcased the creativity and innovation that can be found in the world of gelato. The gelateria truly managed to capture the essence of Hong Kong's unique culinary heritage. Whether you're a fan of traditional flavors or looking for something new and exciting, these gelato flavors will not disappoint.
I highly recommend trying these two gelato flavors if you ever have the chance. The Black Sesame Tangyuan with mochi will satisfy your cravings for a nutty and chewy treat, while the Tofu Pudding flavor with its ginger-sweetened sauce will transport you to the streets of Hong Kong with its authentic taste. Don't miss out on these...
Read moreTouted as the best gelato in Australia, they have opened a first store outside Australia in Hong Kong. Was happy that could try this in Hong Kong without flying so far. Visited on a weekend night it wasn't very crowded, there were quite a number of customers but there were a couple of empty tables available. Waited a while as there was a slight queue as well. It was good because they do offer sampling so you could try the flavours before deciding on what to buy. As usual when I step into a gelato shop the 1st flavour I would try is pistachio, but to my disappointment I was told the pistachio flavour was sold out, even when I looked at the tub it seemed like they could at least make a few balls out of the remaining leftovers. I would recommend that if you were to visit the Hong Kong store, just skip the conventional flavours and dive right into the Hong Kong exclusive flavours because they can't be found anywhere! I tried most of them and finally decided on the black sesame and the tofu fa. It was really enjoyable and nostalgic because they were so traditional chinese flavours. Didn't really like staying too long inside the shop. There was this group of people a few tables away they were talking and laughing so loud, and the sound seemed to just keep bouncing from the walls there were like echoes which made me felt uncomfortable. I wanted to finish my gelato and leave but I ended up leaving the shop and trying to finish the gelato as I walked to the MTR station. Worth a visit and really DO TRY the local...
Read moreThis was our second scheduled stop for today. After visited Tai Kwun just walk slowly back down towards Central to find this the best Gelato shop in Hong Kong. This place was known to us from watching on the YouTube, the channel by " two girls press play ", a food blogger duo that my wife and I watch to be informed on the newest and some of the best eating places in Hong Kong. But be careful when looking for this place as the path outside this Gelato shop is sloppy and are made of granite, so it can be very slippery if you are wearing heels or when it rains. Even though this is our first visit, but felt familiar to this place due to the number of times that we have watched the video clip. For our two scoops in a tub, we selected "macadamia crunch" and "super dulce de leche". The first spoon has putted us in ecstasy, the super dulce was creamy and sweeter than the macadamia one, which is light and refreshing. Had we know the taste of their gelato earlier I would have gladly add an extra $10 to have the three scoop deal for $95. If you happens to be visiting the central area of HK, then you must make time to can come this gelato place with at least a hundred bucks in your pocket to be spoiled and be put to heaven with a three scoop tub. See my photos for their selections. Their servers are very nice too, they will let you to sample different flavours before deciding on your order. I will come here weekly if I live in Hong Kong. It's just...
