Owned by a famous Canto-pop singer Hins Cheung, Junon is a revitalized French restaurant that preserves antiques and incubates local performers through daily singing and drama performance. This restaurant has been on my partner’s and my bucket list, and we decided to check it out on a date night. Menu is printed daily in a newspaper style. The front side is the menu, and the back side is the news that happened on the same day some 30 to 40 years ago. It was really entertaining to read those news when we were waiting for the dinner to be served. We ordered two starters and a main to share. The first starter was these Baked Escargots in French Butter and Garlic, as my partner wanted to have something French in such a restaurant. I don’t normally opt for this kind of food, but it was a great experience as the butter and garlic made the slimy snails quite enjoyable to eat. Second starter was this Smoked Salmon Tartare with Potato Churros. The salmon tartare was a bit ordinary yet delicious. What’s special about this dish is the potato churros which we were intrigued. It tasted like savory churros for real! Main was a Poached Cod Fish Filet, Potatoes, Ikura, Herbs, Nage Émulsion and Olive Oil with Fries. The fresh cod fish filet with roes was lovely! Potatoes underneath was a bit raw though. Fries was good, and the truffle mayo dip topped up its taste. Throughout the night, we were about to enjoy this witty singing performance in the bistro area. It was engaging as the performers kept interacting with the audiences. At one point they even invited some to sing with them! On the other hand, we were also able to listen to the songs sung in the fine dining area through the PA system. The performance did create a nice dining atmosphere. We took some time to adore the decoration after our meal. I was surprised that the jewelries, tea cups and plates in one of the display cupboard are for sale! On the whole, we feel like Junon is a great place to celebrate anniversary, birthdays or family events. It would not disappoint!

Seems like THE place to go for birthdays, as we went for a relative's birthday, and the singer read out a long list of other tables having birthday celebrations that night. I do see why it's popular for celebrating an event. The restaurant is very quaint with it's romantic style of decor, and in a city lacking in live performances this place with its own stage and a slew of by-gone-era performances makes it a "different " experience for a Hong Kong person. The amateurish singers, choice of songs (stick with Chinese songs if you can't pronounce the English lyrics) can make for a few laughs in the beginning... but wears thin by the third performance. We all agreed that the food was okay, but nothing special. They did make a good dry martini, which I sorely needed to help me get through the night. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant won't make a simple change to an order - in my case I wanted to change the mash potatoes with fries to go with my steak. They insisted that I must have the mash (which came in a separate bowl anyway) and order an additional fries, no other way! Well, I did do that. Their fries were ok... but the mash was terrible. Other huge problem.... we placed our order at 7:45. Our mains were finally served to us, after our much complaining, at 9:35! Understand, it wasn't even a full house. Never going there again... and will warn my friends not to either.

The restaurant is located at the 2nd floor of the building and the front entrance is facing outside of the walkway, so it looks like location on the street. We were at La Scene de Junon at dinner time. The show didn't start until 7:30pm. I was there in June. At first, I was very curious about how the music from Bistro side is not affecting to another side of dinning area, but then I realized that the piano sound from Bistro was very minimal, once performance started at La Scene, all covering well. We were two at small table setting aside. Love the shows as you didn't get a moment of bored. The performers are beyond awesome, truly. Dishes are chic and no regrets of trying. The servers are friendly and did explain well when I had questions, as well as very attentive. One was proactively offered help of pictures, he even tried his best to do a good shots on us. How lovely. The air conditioning is quite strong on my side, a layer to bring is suggested. No extra comments needed for the elegance of vibes, all well seen as pictures and TV. I'm giving 5 stars because the overall experience although I can't decline that I'm a big Hins' fans. Just by paying a good amount of dinning experience doesn't mean you get to see Hins in the restaurant, oh well, the vibes that you paid for, at least)

Junon is used to located in Mong Kok long time ago but it moved to Wan Chai. It has renovated in a way, with dark wood interior and piano, colourful glass ceiling and vintage lights and curtains. Other than the environment, the food and the service are very good as well. The waiters are very kind and quick to serve us or refilling our cups of water. I am having the restaurant week lunch for $248. Starting off with the heirloom tomatoes. It is like a Caprese salad, with burrata cheese, tomatoes and vinaigrette. The tomatoes are very sweet and doesn’t taste raw. Onion soup will charge you extra, but it is worth it. The onion soup has a depth taste of caramelised onion and beef bone soup. Topping off with a piece of baguette and Emmental cheese is just a classic touch. Duck leg confit is a perfect choice. The skin is crispy and the flesh is tender and meaty. There are fennel sauce, grilled fennel bulb and slices of pickled fennel, which is rather uncommon in Hong Kong. The best part is yet to come, the dessert. The coconut ice cream is very fresh and the passion fruit is highlighting the sweetness of the ice cream. I will definitely revisiting this restaurant for some kind of dinner anniversary or birthday dinner.

A French restaurant opened by the HK artist/singer Junon. Beautifully decorated in classic French inferior. Menu is decorated as if it's a daily newspaper with the news of old (some 40/50 years ago on the same date) printed on the other side which is cool. There's no set menu on weekends, not sure about weekdays. The restaurant is setup into two zones in the evening, on the left upon entering is a Al la carte area with a grand piano in the middle, a pianist will be playing and singing along; separated by a curtain upon entering on the right, is a set tasting menu only area where there is a small stage for a singer performing. Lunch Al la carte, tenderloin for $295 (before services) was quite nice, 7 out of 10 for me, be nice if they come with fries instead of mash and apple sauce.
