It was the worst Thai food out of HK without a freaking doubt. (Would give 0 star if I could) EVERYTHING was so salty that I feel like getting a kidney transplant now. We ordered 4 dishes and none of them is good (or remotely palatable).
Boat noodles- I don’t know why they bother naming themselves Thai boat noodle when they charge $138 a bowl for salt water. There’s NO flavor in the soup.
Satay- beef was chewy but comes with an $98 price tag.
Soft shell crab mango salad- they took it straight out of the freezer like I’m chewing on salty ice.
Yellow curry with crab meat- it was so salty I don’t even know what I’m eating at this point. The roti looks like the staff took 2 bites out of it and I’m constantly fishing crab shell out of my mouth.
The waitress also got our order wrong and did not apologize, then proceeded to interrogate me about my order like I did something wrong. When another server came with the bill and told me this crappy hell of a dinner that costs $600 is cheap! I almost killed myself.
Came here reading about it on Instagram and claiming this place came highly recommended by the Thai embassy which I think is doing injustice to all the Thai people I know. I’d never wish this restaurant on my...
Read moreWalk by this restaurant and decided to try it out. The restaurant was bright with a lot of seat. It was clean and the servers were nice and very attentive. Food was served quick.
We tried the boat noodles, the Wagyu fried rice and the Thai milk tea.
The boat noodles were good. The texture of the noodles was perfect. It was nice and chewy. I enjoyed it a lot but the soup would’ve been better if it was hotter and a little bit stronger. The soup came out warm. The beef was also very tender.
The Wagyu rice was our favourite dish of the two. Paired with the fish sauce, it was amazing. You can also see the cubes of Wagyu beef. They were very tender and delicious. Definitely recommend trying this dish.
The food was delicious but portion seemed a bit small compared to other places.
The Thai milk tea was available hot which was nice. It was paired with sugar syrup. It would’ve been better if they gave condensed milk instead. The drink was on the bitter side and not as creamy.
They have a loyalty card system where you get a stamp every time you dine here and after dining here for a certain about of times you get discount or something complementary.
There is also a washroom conveniently located inside. It was...
Read moreWhile not the best Thai food I've encountered, if I had to choose one place in the area, it would still be Samsen. The restaurant offers a lunch set that ranges from $78 to $138, plus a 10% service charge, making it a bit pricey for a weekday lunch. Each set includes a sour and spicy cucumber salad and a choice between Thai lemon tea or Thai milk tea, which can be served iced or hot.
The ambiance of the restaurant is clean, which is a plus, but the seating leaves much to be desired. The seats next to the window are especially uncomfortable, and the tables are relatively small, making it a tight fit for dining with multiple dishes.
As for the food, I tried the green curry with pork neck. While it was decent in flavor, I found the portion size to be a bit lacking for the price. There were only six pieces of pork neck, and I had to finish the entire bowl of rice to feel satisfied. The presentation of the Hainan chicken rice was appealing, but I was disappointed to find that it didn’t use proper yellow rice, which is typically a hallmark of this dish. I did not try the Pad Thai but my friend commented the chicken didn’t taste that great.
I would still go back to...
