I arrived at La Crêperie Wanchai Shop around 12:15 PM to secure a table for lunch for two. The restaurant was not full, and I was seated without issue. However, at around 12:30 PM, things took a disappointing turn.
The shop manager approached me and asked that I return the table, claiming there were many guests waiting outside. He said he could give me a ticket instead. I explained that my friend was on her way and offered to call her to check her arrival time. While I was making the call, the manager simply turned his back and walked away without a word.
Shortly after, I informed him that my friend would arrive within two minutes. Nonetheless, he insisted that I give up the table immediately and told me to stand up. He went as far as saying that even if I ordered food right then, they wouldn't prepare it for me. It was clear he intended to rearrange tables to accommodate another group of four—which I understood. However, instead of communicating this reasonably, he was abrupt and dismissive.
Had he explained the situation politely, I would have been more than willing to cooperate. But before asking me to move, he never once inquired when my companion would arrive or when we planned to order food. The interaction felt disrespectful and completely lacking in hospitality.
Thankfully, my friend arrived within a minute, and the manager—reluctantly—allowed us to stay and take our orders. But by then, the damage to the dining experience was...
Read moreFood has always been amazing and it was no exception this time. However, the service came as a disappointment. I arrived at 12:30pm to check if there were two seats for me and my buddy who was just around the corner. I was assigned to a table by one of the waiters. Reading the menu, two waiters suddenly came over, asking me to stand back up and give up my table to a couple, as my friend hadn’t arrived. The waiters assigned me to read the menu at the corner of the restaurant. This is a complete lack of service, respect, courtesy and professionalism. I am more than happy to wait to get seated until all parties have arrived. Yet, the waiters did not bother to confirm if all parties on my side had arrived and instructed me to wait. Instead, they assigned a table to me right away but only realized my friend had not arrived when I was seated and reading the menu. If your rule is to assign a table only after all parties have arrived, you could have just let me know before I got seated. The team didn’t ask, and assign a table to me, creating this negative dining experience, making me feel so embarrassed. Many restaurant owners in HK often ascribe their business failure to the fact that HK people now dine in Shenzhen instead of HK. We should in fact improve our service quality and overall...
