Northern Dumpling Yuan — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

My favourite boiled/steamed style dumplings I've had in Hong Kong (and to be honest, anywhere) and the reason is that the dumplings are well cooked , slight perfect chewiness and the filling. The filling is generous and flavourful. You can see the ingredients and it's not all minced up like other places. Really highly recommend a visit to this little gem.

Fav steamed dumplings were: Pork and sweet corn (forgot to take a photo but the corn was excellent ratio) Pork with watercress Vegetarian

We did also order dumplings in noodle soup, was ok but noodles a bit soft for me I prefer chewy noodles. Flavours still spot on.

Prices very reasonable, can't really fault it. The restaurant itself is small and eclectic, I imagine could get busy over lunch time. We visited twice in two days at 3-4pm and had no issues.

Will visit again next time...

hot damn these dumplings are delicious! we got the boiled pork and cabbage, and the fried pork and leek At first we were skeptical about fried because they looked a lot thicker than we'd imagined, but when you bite down the skin is much thinner than you'd expect! flavour inside is incredible. For boiled, i have nothing to say except fantastic flavour, texture etc. The bonus is the chilli sauce they have, goes so well with the dumps. We even bought frozen ones and brought them home.

Forgot to picture the boiled ones which was my fave but peep the fried, still...

SUPER BAD SERVICE!!!!!!!!! I do not have any expectation on any service for local eateries. However, the staff opened the door to ask us to come in then she closed the door behind her and asked me to open the door myself. We wanted to order both soup and fried dumplings but the staff told us we can’t order fried dumplings as there were too many people waiting outside.
