Nestled in the heart of the city, OOULI stands out as a beacon of Korean fine dining, offering an exquisite journey through the flavors of Busan. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and sophistication, setting the perfect stage for a culinary adventure.
// Ambiance
The restaurant features a stunning night city view that adds a magical touch to your dining experience. The interior is modern and sleek, with clean lines and a refined aesthetic. An open bar at the side invites guests to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Notably, the decor is minimalistic, focusing on contemporary design rather than floral arrangements, which allows the stunning view to take center stage.
// Service
The service at OOULI is impeccable. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, offering detailed explanations of each dish and ensuring that every need is met. Their knowledge of the menu is impressive, and they are eager to recommend pairings that enhance the dining experience.
// Menu
OOULI's menu is a thoughtfully curated selection of Busan-style dishes, each beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. My top three favorite dishes truly showcase the restaurant's dedication to quality and taste:
This grilled Korean snapper served in a seafood clear soup is a standout. The broth is light yet flavorful, perfectly complementing the succulent fish. The dish is a celebration of freshness, making it a delightful start to the meal.
The grilled Hanwoo beef 1++ with homemade carrot purée is nothing short of spectacular. The beef is incredibly tender and rich in flavor, while the carrot purée adds a subtle sweetness that enhances the overall experience. This dish is a true testament to the art of Korean grilling.
To finish the meal, the homemade ice cream with sticky rice waffle, walnut, and pomelo honey is a delightful treat. The combination of textures—from the creamy ice cream to the chewy waffle—along with the refreshing notes of pomelo honey, creates a perfect balance that lingers on the palate.
// The Chef
The culinary brilliance of OOULI is led by a master chef who has earned prestigious accolades, including a medal at a renowned culinary competition. This recognition speaks volumes about the chef's skill and dedication to elevating traditional Korean cuisine.
Overall, OOULI is a culinary gem that successfully elevates traditional Busan cuisine to new heights. To enjoy a fancy ✨ traditional Korean meal with such an amazing harbour view 🌉 is worthy of every penny! This place offers a 3️⃣ to 4️⃣ course meal for lunch and I tried their 4 course lunch meal this time, here’s what they include:
Deul Kkae - Juk: Traditional Korean Porridge, Beef, Clam, Korean Seasonal Vegetable 🥣 Jili - Tang: Grill Korean Snapper in Seafood Clear Soup 🍲 Jan Chi: Australia Wagyu Beef & Homemade Carrot Puree 🥩 Jan Chi: Slow Cook Jeju Pork Belly & Perilla Leaves, Homemade Barbecue Sauce 🐖 JinSu - Sung Chen: Busan Own Farm Rice with Eel Soup & 5 Types Special Banchan 🍚 Coffee or Tea with a traditional Korean Snack 🫖
I love the order of the food, starting with an award-winning 🏅 traditional Korean porridge! Porridge has beef, clams and rice from chef’s own farm. Seafood 🐟 soup was next, every part of it was heavy in seafood flavour, 😋 even the foam was made using the seafood soup.
My personal favourite of this set was their “JinSu” in which it was a combo of rice 🍚 imported from Busan with eel soup. 🍲 Rice was surprisingly chewy and had a hint of sweetness. 🥹 With 5️⃣ types of special banchan on the side, you get to taste the traditional flavours of Busan! One of the banchan was fresh fish belly, 🐠 refreshing, chewy and mildly spicy! 🌶️
For dinner, they even have a 9️⃣ course meal menu, which also includes sashimi. 🐙 I think this is a great place for date night 🕯️ and family gathering if you all are into trying traditional Korean food! 😌
