Got a recommendation to go to this hole in the wall place that is popular with the locals. First thing to note is they sit you wherever there is room so you may be at a table with strangers. Second, they don't speak English very well so it was hard to communicate and they in fact got part of my order wrong.
Onto the food, the broth in the noodle soup was very good. Normally I am a big fan of tripe, in pho for example. I like the rubbery texture and how it soaks up the flavor of the broth. Theirs however seemed a bit different, kind of mushier, and I didn't like it as much. The wide egg noodles were bland and tasteless and didn't seem to soak the flavor of the broth at all.
My wife was smart and took notice what the locals at our table had ordered. They got the vermicelli rice noodles, which did a much better job of soaking up the flavor from the broth. She also copied them in ordering the radish, which was delicious. The beef brisket was also very good. Her bowl was much, much better than mine. We also got the green veggie dish, not sure what the English name is. It was good and I felt the broth was even better than...
Read moreUnexpected find! Was trying to find food after shopping in Sogo Causeway Bay. There was a 6 person queue so I knew that this was a popular local spot. The aroma of the broth was so inviting even when we were lining up. After 15 minutes, we got ourselves a spot. The interior was so authentic Hong Kong style. There was an English / Indonesian menu. This was quite helpful for us. I ordered kuotie / flat noodle with 3 toppings (pork neck, blood cake, intestine). First time tasting it was salty. As I drank more of the soup, it got tastier! Pork neck was heavenly. So umami & tender. There was so much blood cake topping. I couldn't believe it. The intestine was also good & soft. But next time I would replace it with tendon or tofu. There was a dash of water spinach to add extra crunch. Didn't expect to finish the whole bowl until the last...

This place has been here for more than 20 years.
They have an english menu if you ask. The food here is the best. There is a reason they have outlasted the copies that have popped up next door.
If you like spicy, add a little of the chili sauce they have, that is home made. A little goes a long way, be warned.
If you like old school Hong Kong noodle shop with both beef, pork and seafood ingredients, this is the place.
Beef tripe, pork blood, cow lung, beef ball, squid ball, wontons etc. Get the fried fish skin too and really enjoy the soup
It will take multiple trips to try everything on the menu. If you don't want noodles, you can order without...
