PizzaExpress (Wan Chai) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

We weren’t even aware this restaurant existed in Wan Chai north, but were happy to discover it, as the kids were in a serious mood for pizza and pasta.

Came for lunch on a Saturday after a sports tournament with five kids and three adults. The staff were very friendly and patient with our rowdy crew. Out was very much appreciated. Food and drinks came out pretty quickly.

The pizzas were very fresh and flavorful. I hadn’t been to a PizzaExpress in a long time so not sure what I was expecting. I didn’t have high hopes because my recollection of the last visit at another location was that it was pretty mediocre. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was. Pasta was big hit with the kids too. I wouldn’t say the pasta is gourmet in any sense but it was fresh out of the pan and hit the right spot. We also ordered a ton of dough balls, which were devoured almost immediately.

We were able to take our time and enjoy our lunch. Many restaurants these days offer only a limited period of time per table and service is usually non existent, but we were very happy with our visit. They represented PizzaExpress well and brought back the...

Probably the most horrific service I've ever experienced in a restaurant... ever.

I Travel to Hong Kong a lot for work, and this is first bad experience here. And to be honest ever in any restaurant at this scale.

The owner seemed nice. However, unable to control her destructive employee.

Her employee, should never work in the service industry.

Every ask seems like a confrontation, or us begging to be served. Always ending with attitude and mumbling under her breath. Each dish that came out she places the plates on the table with unnecessary force, feeling like the plate was being thrown at us. And there was a miscommunication with the order that resulted in an extra water bottle being served, instead of just handling it professionally argues back like we're picking a fight, we're just trying to communicate like normal human beings.

So many other things I won't include here. But you get the point.

We left really shook. That this experience just happened.

Went for an early lunch, and ordered the set menu for two. My friend’s starter and pizza arrived in good time. I had to check on mine after 15 minutes. I then saw my pizza go to another table, and before they’d realised the mistake the other diner had started eating the burrata on the pizza. It then was taken back to the kitchen and came back out 2 minutes later with new burrata. I told the waiter what I’d seen and he went to check and then said they were making a new one now. I then left without eating. In fairness the waiter was understanding and gave me the fresh one for free as takeaway. But the way the kitchen acted was unhygienic and disgusting and terrible service. Won’t be eating at PE again, and recommend others avoid this branch...
