Absolutely love steak, probably eat it way too much. Just wasn't really blown away or that impressed. It's not bad per se by any means. Was expecting it to be strong given the chef, group pedigree etc. But starting with the entrance, there's a pretty uninviting staircase on the street level, I wouldn't call it alley like but it's the level right above it. For a casual diner, fine. But a chop house? That's sub par. Or you can opt for the service lift which is behind a door in the lobby.
The interior is fine. But you can hear everything and everyone whether you want to or not. Same applies for others being able to hear you. At this price point I'd just prefer a bit more spacing and privacy. Sure I can opt for a room, but general seating at this price range is disappointing.
Solid wine list. The food menu is fine, has most of the classic chophouse usuals like tartare, which was good but small portion and you'd expect a bit higher of a beef to gherkin ratio.
Steak list has a wide range, shocked to not see any US beef on there. But that's just my preference. But if you are like me, then you'll get that same disappointment. I tried the Italian and Australian cuts, ribeye and strip both done well but lacking that chophouse 1000 degree broiler crust. Still, good but not great nor memorable. The sauces are chef prepared, so not sure why they were all listed if I can't choose. We were given a red wine based sauce which was not bad but you'll need a tums or antacid after if you have a weaker stomach, it was quite packed with oil and drippings I imagine.
Sides - these were all disappointing. Esp the lobster mac and cheese. Wet, soggy, greasy but served in a confusing cast iron pan. Confusing bc anything served in such a pan shouldn't be this wet and soggy.
Again was expecting a lot more given the buzz. But sadly it missed the mark for me. In a town blessed with so many solid steak options, we have better options whether it's the actual finished steak, the ambience, seating, access,...

Starting with ‘Perle Noire’ N3 oysters, silky and briny with a fresh citrus zing; the rich French onion soup topped with golden, bubbly Comté cheese, warming the soul with caramelized sweetness; and the crisp Caesar salad layered with creamy anchovy dressing and nutty Parmesan shavings. Mains shone with the tender Murray Cod in a fragrant marinière sauce paired with pickled donabe rice, and the melt-in-your-mouth braised beef cheek infused with smoky bacon and earthy Yunnan mushrooms. We ended on a high note with the delicate apple tarte fine, its crisp pastry contrasting hot, soft apples and cool vanilla ice cream in perfect harmony. This heartfelt spot is a true gem for food lovers—highly...
