If I had the option, I would give Ruth Chris Steakhouse ZERO stars. My family of 5 have been regular and loyal patrons of Ruth Chris Steakhouse In Admiralty Hong Kong.
We celebrate every birthday, anniversary there for the last 8 years bar covid when restrictions were 2 per table. We were finally able to sit together as a family of 5 with the reservation I made well in advance in anticipation of the covid dinning relaxation to groups of 8.
Unhappily, the shocking and unprofessionalism began the moment we sat down. Leave home app done, temperature check done. My husband declined to use their hand sanitizer as we had only went from home to car to restaurant. I only gave them my left hand absentmindedly as I was busy messaging on my phone on my right hand. The female manageress trailed us to our usual table and stuck a bowl of wipes under my husbandโs nose and held a giant bottle of disinfectant demanding he sanitizer his hands! We were shocked! She refuses to move from his side till he did as he was told! As not to create a scene infront of our children, he sanitized his hands under her watchful eyes and then she left our table.
We never imagined that a restaurant such as Ruth Chris Steakhouse where we have been loyal diners with our children practically having grown up there for the past 8 years displayed such RUDENESS, such UNPROFESSIONALISM, leaving us upset and speechless by the ARROGANCE and SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS displayed. We will never return to dine there and WARN all others that this restaurant doesnโt deserve any patronage. There are better high end steakhouses in Hong Kong who will certainly not treat its diners as second...
ย ย ย Read moreI had the displeasure of dining at the Ruth's in Hong Kong. I can only describe my experience as absolutely pathetic.
The steak had the appearance of where the jockey was hitting it earlier in the day, the flavor was as bland as the tablecloth on which it sat and was about as appetizing a piece of meat as if I had bitten my own lip for food.
I've now come to learn that Ruth's overpriced horse meat at $120 US should only serve as a warning to others as to not patronize this place and try any other 'acceptable' steak house such as Outback or McDonald's. Apparently their definition of medium means "briefly appeared in warm room" and sending the steak back means that I get the overpriced piece of burnt leather you they were really selling me to begin with.
The waitstaff at this location is on par with the quality of food and about as useful as the aforementioned jockey to me.
UPDATE: posted this to Ruth's website and never heard back from them. Apparently this is what your experience should...
ย ย ย Read moreA white tablecloth restaurant with spacious seating, Ruth Chris is an old-fashioned American-styled steak house. The vibe is a bit like Lawry's, which is just in the building next door's. But, as opposed to Lawry's, I like how Ruth Chris is bright and sunny with windows lining the whole venue (aside from the private room). I always come during lunchtime, so I don't know what the ambience is in the evening. Waiters are dressed up and have good knowledge of the menu. Most of them seem quite experienced, being attentive without being intrusive. Prices are on the higher end of the scale, for reference, my 12oz rib-eye was around HK$600. But you are paying for the ambience along with the food. If I was looking for a rowdier place in Admiralty/Central just for the steak, I would run off to the newer steak houses like Bistecca, Butcher's Club,...
