A friend recommended this Vietnamese restaurant a long time ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to go until today. I tried several Vietnamese dishes, and the fried Vietnamese Fried rolls were one of my favorite appetizers. The crispy exterior and rich filling created a wonderful texture and taste. Next, I tried the Beef Bò Bún, which is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. The beef was tender and juicy, and the lemongrass gave it a refreshing and pleasant taste that left a lasting impression. The Vietnamese chicken bánh mi was also a memorable dish. The crispy French bread, tender chicken, pickled vegetables, and fresh herbs created a rich and satisfying flavor. Finally, I tried the iced Vietnamese coffee, which is a favorite among the Vietnamese people. The restaurant was staffed by Vietnamese who can spoke Vietnamese, English, and Cantonese, which added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

On this fifth day of the Lunar New Year the whole food street in Tin Hau rested and I have almost never seen such desertion in this part of the town. Saigon Etoile was perhaps one of the very few on the main street that opened. There was a huge order for takeout right before me. I was eating in, but surprisingly, even with the lone chef there my food came quite quickly. I ordered a grilled beef over cold noodles, and it was very good food. Very generous portions as I could observe, even with the dishes that other customers ordered. The only drawback is that the restaurant is very small. I was a little cramped up at the bar table, but you can call that intimate dining. I will go back to try their Pho next time.

Visited this spot with my mother, and I would say the reviews claiming this place to be the most authentic Vietnamese spot weren't wrong! We tried the Bahn-mi, Tomato seafood noodles, and fresh spring rolls - All capturing the rich flavours of vegetables, meat, sauce etc! But I would say some of the seats are quite uncomfortable to sit on, especially the high chairs me and my mother was on. (Plus, we almost had an ant crawling into our food!) But overall, very worth visiting - I would recommend going on weekdays lunchtime because the prices are must cheaper than going on weekends!

On my way to a self-grooming appointment, bought off Hokobuy, I chanced by Saigon Etoile cafe / restaurant. A quick look at the menu, one vegetarian banh mi and I were sold to give it a shot.

The self-grooming service disappointed me, but the food here did not. They toasted the baguette, and it was simple yet delicious. Sauteed tofu with turmeric and onions, topped with fresh carrots, coriander and pickled radish.

It was a quick and satisfying lunch! The look and feel of the place were lively and colourful too. And their butter paper on which they served the sandwich was printed - cutesy! The little joys of life!

I saw them serving the condensed milk coffee, drip style.
