Located within the Exchange Square, Shanghai Garden boasts a chic and sophisticated ambiance that exudes an air of elegance. The dining space feels remarkably comfortable and inviting.
Their signature roast duck set is an absolute showstopper. Presented on the table, the display is truly bountiful, featuring the crispy skin, tender meat, as well as accompaniments like jamon, purple shiso, avocado, cantaloupe, scallions, and cucumbers, along with a flavorful duck sauce. The roast duck itself is exceptional - the skin is delightfully crisp, while the meat remains juicy and succulent.
Another standout dish is the braised Jinhua ham with baby bok choy. The bok choy is wonderfully sweet, perfectly complemented by the high-quality Jinhua ham.
The restaurant's crispy pan-fried soup dumplings are almost like a miniature version of xiao long bao. The dumplings have a delightfully crisp base, encasing a tasty meat filling with a rich, piping hot broth inside.
Overall, Shanghai Garden impresses with both its refined ambiance and the exceptional quality of its...
Read moreGloomy atmosphere. 4 tables on a Saturday night. Their menu is very confusing, and staff are not experienced nor confident in their dishes. Marketed as traditional Shanghainese, but is actually Singaporean fusion (new Singaporean chef). Uncertain about their direction when asked.
Attitude of one staff was rude (asked for another menu, due to being a party of 5. Given "you already have one" as a response). The best dish they had was the chilli crab. The crab was sweet and juicy, and the sauce was perfect. Pretty hilarious for a Singaporean dish to be the best thing at a "Shanghainese" restaurant. Other traditional dishes were underwhelming. Peking duck was unusual and had too many confusing condiments with it (avocado, melon).
Once we finished our meal, the dimsums (xiao long bao and spring onion pancake) had not arrived. We reminded them, and it pretty much felt like eating a second dinner from the awkward wait time. Xiao long bao was weirdly sweet, and the pancake was soggy (spring onion were also off).
Overall a lacklustre and...
Read moreAwful service from booking to dining to serving. PR claims to be “busy” when not replying to order messages for business lunch. She even plays an extremely condescending attitude and refuses to give an estimated time for reply when customers called to confirm on the menu.
Appetizers are not on the table as requested and the dishes come up extremely slowly. Serving attitude was even outrageously bad when the waiter has the fried rice on and off the table for three times, and again, claims that she is “busy” so cannot distribute the food on the table.
This particular waitress/PR was ruining the whole dining experience. Clearly, the restaurant has no proper training to the waitresses. As a loyal customer, I used to host business lunch often here and extremely disappointed at the restaurant for today’s experience. Do not recommend if you are hosting any important...
