Tenzen Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

I have eaten at Tenzen several hundred times over the last 8 years. Why? Because it is consistently excellent, both quality of food (particularly sashimi and sushi) and ambience. Ambience is generated by (Chef and owner) Man si-fu and staff who are welcoming and genuine. Order the chef’s omakase and a half portion of beef sashimi. All flown fresh from Hokkaido or Tokyo. Crab sashimi particularly delicately flavoured and fresh. Tuna always to die for! Ah Man is Hong Kong Chinese and charming (frequently adoring female customers at the sushi bar) but Japanese trained. Phenomenal! No other way to explain it. A coworker and I were in town for a week and trying to randomly decide what to eat, we found a Google recommended sushi place and figured it was a good change of pace. Went for lunch and had the sushi set. Can't remember how many pieces but it was the largest set on the menu. Although there were not many guests at the restaurant and the sushi bar was not full, the work flow was like a conveyor belt in a factory of Chinese chefs. No Japanese chef when we went.
