They were my all-time fave 2 years ago but yesterday (8/8/2020) I went there with my friend for lunch. It was a disaster. I feel like we were in a place for Yum Cha instead of a decent Japanese restaurant. It was very noisy and the staff is not professional at all. At first, the table next to us kept talking loudly. You know, due to the COVID-19, each table can accommodate up to 2 people only but I guess that table came with a group of friends, so there were different people keep standing in front of that table for gossiping. And they didn’t keep their voice down. We asked the staff to talk to them but doesn’t work. We just want to finish our food as fast as we can.
However, we waited for a while to order food and the waitress didn’t catch what we ordered. We have to repeat it twice. When the food came, no one served us soy sauce. When we paid the bill, that waitress kept talking to others loudly at the same time and didn’t pass us the bill politely. What’s more, the bad service is not just about the front staff but also the chef at the sushi bar! They kept touching their surgical mask when making sushi. And sometimes, he took off his mask and drank sake with the customers at the bar. I can accept just a single sip but not keep talking without the mask and even laugh. That sashimi was right in front of him without cover.
I don’t know what happened to this restaurant but I would NEVER go back again! This is not...
Read moreMy cousin took me to Tomokazu, and it was an incredible experience. It’s one of Hong Kong’s oldest Japanese restaurants, it has been serving customers near Causeway Bay since the 1990s. It's also has one of the most spacious dining areas. They have a smorgasbord of fresh seafood from Japan, China, Europe and even live oysters from Africa. The restaurant featured a unique sake dispenser, and we let the chef choose the dishes for us. Every dish, whether hot or cold, was outstanding (we even had lattume). The only disappointment was the caviar-stuffed chicken wing. I mistakenly thought it would be an interesting choice, but cooked caviar is an absolute waste and that’s my own fault because I went outside the chef’s recommendation. But Tomokazu was an absolute delight, we must of stayed way past closed and they were still happy to serve. I definitely enjoyed...
Read moreFood was good but service was very confusing and they did not understand the issue that I was having. I waited 30 minutes for my second piece of sushi as indicated on my order and then they said I only get one. The menu clearly indicates 2 pieces so I waited around for nothing. After asking three times they never understood what was wrong. I was upset that my night was being wasted and they did not offer and apology or any reimbursement for the confusion. Will never...
