Disappointing Birthday Experience at Trattoria Queen Hollywood
I had high hopes for Trattoria Queen Hollywood after reviewing the menu and hearing positive feedback about the food. I made a reservation for a BIRTHDAY celebration. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations.
We were seated at a cramped loft table upstairs, beside a window blinds curtain and a refrigerator—hardly the ambiance one would expect for a special birthday celebration.
Service throughout the evening was consistently poor. No one offered us water upon arrival or asked if we preferred still or sparkling.
We ordered a bottle of Loire white wine, but there was no wine service whatsoever. The bottle was opened downstairs, out of sight, and we were simply handed two glasses—no presentation, no tasting, no explanation. When I requested an ice bucket, I was told they didn’t have any and that white wines are kept chilled in their fridge.
The birthday dessert was another disappointment. I had ordered two desserts. The first dessert came with a birthday plate that misspelled my boyfriend’s name—“Phil” was written as “PHILIP.” (i made requested via wtsapp with correct name written).
The waiter placed the dessert on the table and walked away without acknowledging the occasion or offering to take a photo. Ten minutes later—after we had already started eating—he returned to ask if the name was incorrect, offered a quick “sorry,” and then asked if we wanted a photo. By then, the moment had passed, and the gesture felt more like an afterthought than genuine hospitality.
While the food itself was good, the overall experience left us feeling undervalued. Our dinner cost around HKD $2,800 in total, including the wine of about $500–600. At this price point, guests should expect not only quality cuisine but also attentive service and thoughtful touches.
Especially when you're not offering a budget menu, there should be a commitment to excellence in both food and service. Sadly, this birthday dinner was memorable for all the...

✅ Straw Smoked Sakura Salmon. Tomato Salad ✅ Hokkaido Sea Urchin. Lemon Cream Tagliolini 🆗 Baked local fish. Farm vegetable
Smoked salmon was exceptionally fresh, bursting with flavour and a delightful aroma, while the sea urchin offered a sweet taste that paired beautifully with the creamy sauce. Although the baked local fish was executed flawlessly but it didn’t quite deliver the excitement I was hoping for, just felt a bit too similar to my own home cooking.
Chef is incredibly welcoming and took the time to share origins of all the ingredients used but …dining here is not cheap, especially given the current economic climate…to be frank there are plenty of better value spots at...
