3.5 stars Upscale Shanghainese cuisine in Pacific Place. Food here has a relatively bland nuanced taste (perhaps it’s Shanghainese cuisine). They serve some unique Chinese dishes that you won’t find at other HK restaurants here. These include Chinese lettuce and ham. Good dish – very homey taste – lettuce is very fresh and the ham is high quality / goes well with the dish. Jelly meat – relatively sweet / fatty meat served in cold jelly format – my colleague really likes this dish but I find it strange Chopped veggie with garlic – salty Fried sticky rice with veggie – great texture but a bit salty Sweet and sour fish – classic dish but done really well here Dessert – they are known for the rice ball in sweet rice wine soup. A pretty unique traditional Chinese dessert. I find it a bit too sweet but the rice wine smell provides...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since i was 7, and it became a tradition where i would bring my mom here every year for mother’s day (and other days as well obviously).
This place was newly renovated about half a year ago.. Friendly staff, spacious (wont feel cramped like typical Chinese restaurants), and most importantly great good for great price. You can eat a lot for very little, but at the same time, they have great seafood delicacies as well (abalone, shark fin.. etc).
Definitely would recommend their pan fried meat dumplings (煱貼), meat buns (生煎包), cold appetiser called 雞絲粉皮, and shanghai fried noodles (上海粗炒麵)! I could list more but thats just from the top of my head, oh and they have a pretty good selection of chinese and foreign liquors for those that like to enjoy a drink with...
Read moreBeen eating here more than 10 times and tonight invited two good friends for dinner who have also eaten here before and we all agree that service wasn't on par with past visits and food was a little disappointing. Roasted whole duck we only got about 12 thin slices of skin with the meat being made to another small dish. Although tasty, we got maybe less than 30% of the duck served, rest must have gone to other guests for some other dishes. The mushroom dish served was overcooked as well. Having to ask twice for the bread pockets for the second duck dish was also disappointing. First waiter also seemed annoyed that I knew the second dish should come with the bread pockets. Anyway perhaps we were just unlucky to experience below average food and service...
