Zinen Ya Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

One of the worst experience of a Japanese restaurant I had in HK... The food is not authentic at all, it's a Chinese restaurant disguised as Japanese, the service was terrible and atmosphere dreadful.

The wait for the food was long and the waitress didn't take notes, so she either forgot or confused all the orders. For me after waiting 30min for a grilled pike mackerel, the waitress told me she just ordered another grilled fish (more expensive) and was pushing me to take the other one instead. Uh no thanks!

Waited in total 45min to get the grilled fish I wanted, I was even about to leave when miraculously the fish I wanted finally came out! So I ended up eating alone while my friends were long finished with their food. The fish wasn't even that tasty, very greasy and bland. And I'm speaking as someone who was starving waiting for my food.

The restaurant was very noisy, children screaming at the top of their voices and that would echo in all the restaurant.

In the end, not even excuses given for their poor service and their mistake. Will not come again for sure, and definitely don't recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a pleasant, tasty and affordable...

Ridiculous organisation of table for customers. Have an experience of waiting for almost an hour for a table. We arrived the restaurant that every tables were occupied. Then they told us to wait awhile, without letting us know how long we have to wait. After 30mins, one of the customers were going to leave. Meanwhile some other customers appeared and claimed they had made a booking beforehand. Then, there were another table of customers who were leaving. And again, some other customers arrived and said they had made booking as well. It had been 40mins, then I asked the waitress about when we would get a table. And she said the next one pointing to the table of customers who were paying the bill. Then, a group of four arrived and claimed they had made a booking as well. And ridiculously, another waitress gave them the table which was supposedly for us. And she even told us to wait for another 20mins. Just very disappointed with their arrangement. They could have just told us there were loads of booking tonight and asked us to leave in the very beginning.

So if you want to avoid their poor arrangement ruining your mood, make...

Zi Nen Ya Japanese Restaurant is in here for long time, however, their food is not as great as expected. The restaurant located inside City Garden, not common for outsider get in for dining, and that's why the restaurant usually quiet. The food of the restaurant just average, tried couple of their dishes but not remarkable. The restaurant is clean, and staffs are friendly, but not enough manpower to handle all the customers.
