I went out of my way to find Age.3 in Hong Kong, knowing my chances of making it to their original spot in Giza were slim. And let me tell you—it was absolutely worth the detour (and getting lost in the process).
I tried the original cream and the beef short rib. The bread is masterfully fried—crispy, golden, and not greasy—then sliced open and stuffed. The cream filling is rich and velvety, but not overly sweet. It's decadent without being cloying. One bite and you get why this place has a cult following.
The beef short rib version was a wild ride. It starts with a potato salad base, then comes the tender, sweet slices of beef, and finally a soft-boiled egg on top. It’s a bit of a glorious mess to eat—prepare to get your hands dirty—but the flavors come together beautifully. Rich, savory, creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness from the meat. Though, admittedly, the combo teetered on too much after a while. Still, I devoured the whole thing and had zero regrets.
Heads up: This place charges for literally everything beyond your order—bag, box, napkins, you name it. And they don’t provide napkins, so come prepared unless you want to walk around with sauce-streaked fingers. Seating is super limited, so don’t bank on lingering.
Final verdict: A small but mighty stop that delivers bold flavora. Worth the hunt, worth the mess, and definitely worth the...
Read moreThe food is simply fine. I ordered a salty sandwich (number 21), which had a decent amount of meat and tasted good apart from sour sauce that made up one third of the sandwich filling. There was less filling than the photo showed though. I also ordered their apple crumble sandwich(number 13) and y’all, it was hefty!! There is so much cream and apple flavoured custard in the sandwich , and although the vanilla cream was lovely, the whole thing is simply way too sweet. The vanilla cream is sweet, the apple custard sweeter, the caramelised apple slices sprinkled with sugar…combined, I couldn’t finish the sandwich. The choice to deep fry instead of toast the bread also makes you very aware that you’re eating something oily and overpowers the delicacy of the cream. Overall, not horrible, but not worth a trip to try. The prices are also acceptable but not a particularly good deal. There also not many seats or tables, so be prepared to eat standing up if it’s a busy time, and bring tissues!!! The design of the sandwich will get everything all...
Read moreI came with my family at opening and we ordered the mont blanc (chestnut), kinako, and a curry flavoured sando. There is currently a promo where if you buy three, the fourth sando is 50% off. Additionally, if you buy four, then there is a takeaway box for free (whereas if you buy three or fewer, the box is $5). A takeaway bag is $1 regardless of how many sandos you buy.
The cream is fresh and light, providing a good contrast for the fried bread. The plain sando is $16 and all other flavours are $38. The flavour toppings however are only at the top, surface level of the sando. As you eat further into the sando, it becomes plain cream.
There is a request for customers to clean the tables after eating, however there are no trays, napkins, or garbage cans for customers to use. Depending on the sandwich toppings you get, some are powdery and quite messy to eat. For this reason, I deducted two stars from my rating. I would recommend taking this out to eat instead...
