URBAN Cafe Commune — Restaurant in Kowloon

There was a big flying mosquito, so we decided to be moved to another table. Before at other restaurants, they would put candles.

The menu had fixed and boring sets that had no other options. The food was very disappointing. The soup of the day was cold. The Risotto seemed undercooked and tasteless. The Fish N’ Chips are now too small than it used to be, the Fries are less in portion and just warm. The US Angus Ribeye Steak is ordered Medium but it turns out to be rare and undercooked and served cold. The Cheese Burger is dry and just warm. The most disappointing of all is the Buffalo Chicken Wings, no Buffalo sauce but they used Ketchup as a replacement. Their Lunch Menu which combines the Fish N Chips with the Ribeye Steak used to have separate Fries with Soup and Dessert, but now everything seems Add-Ons.

Since everything had to be in fixed sets, we ordered too much drinks because the Avocado Smoothies were not interchangeable. The staff cannot explain further the menu. Sadly disappointing, other similar restaurants had...

We ordered a pizza for takeaway, and it was supposed to take 15 minutes according to what they’ve told us. We came after 15 minutes from ordering and they didn’t even start baking the pizza! They said they only needed 5 more minutes, however they ended up taking 15 minutes. We had to wait 30 minutes for a single pizza. Anyways they gave us croissants for the delay. However when we got to eat it, there was no stuffed cheese crust! The pizza is called “triple cheese stuffed curst pizza” (mushroom & truffle). We got the pizza with only cheddar cheese that looks like processed sandwich cheese, more like what is called ‘plastic cheese’. Oh and the crust is very very dry like a thin biscuit! This place is neither very good nor very bad. I have eaten here a few times, and my consensus is that food is okay okay at best. I ordered the half chicken and it was more bone and less chicken. But the egg mayo bagel is actually very good. I also ordered the chicken pesto pasta with sundried tomatoes. I think that was quite nice. The coffee is decent, the peach tea is nice. The booth seatings on the end by the windows are very comfortable. They are the best place to sit at this restaurant. However, the service isn’t the best. The wait staff aren’t attentive. I sensed some hostility from one of the waitresses. It made me feel like the 10% service charge is not worth giving. No greetings and a very annoyed face is what I dealt with. But overall, I’d give it a 3/5 as I don’t find this restaurant too bad...
