A waste of prime harbourfront space, frankly. This place has much wasted potential, with current management missing this opportunity with extremely poor leadership and decision making. Let me explain further. Firstly, when you're sat by the harbourfront admiring the glistening sea from the comforts of a cafe, you should be served food and drinks by a human being. This place, however makes you scan a QR code on a bleeper and then you go and pick up your food and drinks from inside the restaurant. The management here clearly think they are being innovative with this irritating failed concept that strangely, some HK restaurants think is a great idea. Is it really practical to keep having to get up and walk inside to grab a beeper and get your refreshments? No it's not. Now I know Hong Kong is not really renown for it's exceptional customer service, but is it really that difficult to provide table service? Secondly, all of the cutlery is plastic! Now, I'm not sure if this is recycled, but even so you are needlessly accumulating more waste on Hong Kong's already overfilled landfill sites. In addition, how can you eat something like Sourdough toast with plastic cutlery?! I had to request metal cutlery because it was impossible to eat my food with flimsy cutlery! Thirdly, they advertise food on the menu like avocado and eggs, but when you go to order it there will be a message informing you that if you want avocado and eggs scrambled or done in any other way, then you must pay extra! That's called false advertisement. The staff are nice, but the manager behind this ineffective cafe concept should be swiftly dismissed and furthermore, should find a new...
Read moreBranch of JOMO Cafe in Sai Wan, this one is bigger with outdoor seating. Dogs are allowed in outdoor seating. It offers main dishes, cake, coffee and tea, some of them are vegan. Like what I ate - Wild Mushroom with Avocado Paste Sourdough, mushrooms and avocado paste were soft and smooth. There were fried kales on top of them. I did not like the fried enokitake as they were too oily. JOMO All-Day Breakfast and Homemade Pasta with Black Truffle Cream Sauce are not vegan but ovo-lacto. Coffee can be requested for soy milk not cow milk with additional $5. Blueberry Banana Crumb Cake was not too sweet. The testure was soft. No reservation here, customers need to find a seat on their own. As there is no dining time limited for customers, customers can occupy the seats for long time. There is gym room inside the restaurant and the toilet is for the gym room users and staff only. Customers can only use the public toilets outside...
Read moreJOMO is aptly named Joy Of Missing Out, as the staff are doing everything to make you "miss out".
Had to grab a ticket to wait for a seat, which wasn't an issue for us as we just waited on the free seating outside.
What was an issue was the speed at which the staff would race through the ticket numbers. They would just call numbers one after another, the speakers went from 12 all the way to 19 within the same minute, giving people no time to go to the counter.
Staff would intentionally ignore you, even if you are around half an arms-length distance and have called out to them three times, not even glancing in your direction. Nice.
Curious to see how long their business will last after the hype dies out. $68 for a apple crumble the size of my fist, served (dine-in) on a paper plate? Would...
