小雨天 - Stanley Street, Central - Hong Kong Traditional Yunnan Soup This part of Stanley street is a wonderful spot. The street is blocked to traffic so plenty of stalls have set up offering up their own delicacies. When I stumbled upon this restaurant it was overflowing with a mix of business men and workers in their hard hats. I was greeted by a friendly lady at the door and offered a table on the street. Perfect for soaking up the atmosphere! I hadn’t looked aThis place serves up Yunnan food - a region in south easy china. I ordered my traditional Yunnan soup with some wontons and beef slices and it came out so outrageously quick. What I saw infront of me was a delightfully colourful soup with fresh coriander and chive toppings and a bright mix of preserved veggies, mince and chili oil. When the spiced mince is mixed into the broth it creates a bold and warming taste. I wasn’t a huge fan of the noodles - these rice noodles have a tendency to become way too mushy and very very slippery. A huge contrast to the egg noodles I had the day prior! The dumplings tasted a bit store bought to me and lacked the fullness of what I had come to expect from my lil wrapped tasty friends in Hong Kong. I liked the atmosphere of this place and if you want to try a Yunnan specialty it seemed like a good option however there are better choices in the area!

Read moreCustomer service at these places are quite rushed, so expect the waiter to walk off on you during ordering if you can't decide! I have always wanted to try this place because their curries are topped with seaweed. As well as curries, their broth is famous too. ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★ Curry beef belly: The seaweed topped on the curry was interesting but did not really enhance the taste of the curry. The curry turned out too spicy so I had the noodles instead. ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★ Noodles in broth: The frankfurters were a joke and looked weird but evidently Hong Kong style! I did not like the broth initially because it smelt of pork that was not fresh. But after a few sips, my tastes buds gradually got accustomed to this taste and it was not that bad. The noodles were soft and absorbed the broth nicely and there were lots of Chinese cabbage in the...
Read moreThis is the “go to”comfort food place whenever we visit Hong Kong. This quaint restaurant is situated at Stanley Street where you would find the longest escalator nearby. They serve a variety of rice and noodles. Some of our favorites are oyster minced meat poached rice, pig’s livers with noodles soup, braised pork ribs rice, braised beef rice, meats with mui choi rice, etc. Our favorite drinks would be the hot ginger lemon Coca Cola and their ice lemon tea, all freshly done. We definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for excellent comfort food with a twist of...
