Buff is a cafe on the corner of Maple Street and Tai Nan Street just south of Boundary Road in Sham Shui Po. They have a fair-sized indoor seating area with nice environs while offering up a range of western dishes, coffees and non-coffee drinks. Opening hours are 9.30am to 7pm daily.
I had lunch here last month that was disappointing compared to other area cafes. On the occasion, I tried their Angus burger should have been better. The beef patty had little natural beef flavour after being grilled, toppings fine and bun held the burger together well. Served with chips and a bit of salad. Not a terrible order but the burger scene around Hong Kong has improved so much in the past 3-4 years. This was just a below average quality burger compared to what you can find at this price point these days. Would try something different next time around.
Similarly, the Lime espresso tonic ordered wasn't great. Espresso was fine but the tonic water had gone flat and had no carbonation or fizz. Lime was also very faint. It was a confusing drink that tasted more like a sweet, slightly citrusy cold brew instead of an espresso tonic.
Overall, not much luck with my food or coffee order at Buff this time around. The place has a very good setup and I found staff to be very friendly, orders were served in a timely manner as well. It seems to have the potential to be a good place to have a light meal, things just didn't go so well...
Read moreWasn’t planned to create a review until I have a sip of the Choco, sorry for the unprofessional pics. As a cafe, we often expect the drinks- coffee and chocolate to be great. Normally I don’t have high expectation in chocolate drinks in cafe, but since it’s single origin I gave it a try. The Choco doesn’t taste like single origin at all, tbh it taste like milk. I don’t think it’s Cadbury and perhaps it’s just too much milk and too little powder. But please this is just a normal choco, $55 for a normal Choco and a lot of calories? I rather get water next time. The coffee is just so so The carrot cake is not bad The pasta is pretty good, but a little overpriced for this quality.
All in all it’s a cafe okay for food if you have extra money in the pocket and want to try something different. If you are looking for drinks, there are tons to try in the area. If you look for atmosphere, it’s located in a pretty cool building.

Read moreJust for the Space and vibe, the natural light and decor I’d give it FIVE STARS, so it’s great to bring your lap top there and work. They even have a socket to plug in your battery to the computer. However, they were playing cantopop covers? Some were ok but some were unbearable for me… that already took a star off. Foodwise I had a chicken pesto pasta. The pasta was not bad at all, but the chicken was a bit dry. However they serve Green Tea Matcha Latte with OATMILK, whoch is a big plus for me. So I will still...
