Navigating the chaotic mosaic of Mong Kok, I stumbled upon Ladies Street Sik Faan Co., a true hidden gem tucked-away treasure that feels more like a local secret than a mapped destination. I even got a little lost trying to find it. It's not easy to find, but maybe that's part of the adventure. And when I finally arrived, I understood why it's worth every wrong turn.
The vibe was exactly what I was looking for: crowded with both locals and foreigners, buzzing with energy. The lively hum of chatter and clinking dishes was oddly comforting and entertaining. The space itself is surprisingly large, yet packed to the brim with diners. Still, the service was quick and the staff were so accommodating.
The setup instantly whets your appetite, the delicious smells, the vibrant soundscape, the aged round tables where strangers sit shoulder to shoulder, sharing meals like old friends. I loved that the decor leaned into classic Hong Kong style: bold reds, Chinese characters adorning the walls, and just the right amount of grit and charm.
The food? Mouthwatering. Every dish was packed with flavor. I ordered a beer that was perfectly bittersweet, served in a generous 600ml bottle, just enough to make me tipsy and happy.
This place is electric. Vibrant, noisy, full of life and flavor. If you're looking for an authentic Hong Kong dinner experience, Sik Faan Co. is where you want to be. I genuinely loved every minute of it. It doesn't just serve dinner. It serves Hong...

Read moreA pretty solid mamaday.
I would say the food is the usual good food available at local restaurants at the upper levels of municipal wet markets - fried seafood, vegetable casseroles which had a firey flair and beer in bowls. The crispies were up to scratch but I thought the lung soup was very bland - it was not boiled long enough.
Notwithstanding that the restaurant moved from an actual wet market to a commercial building, they managed to keep the service and the mood at the same level as a wet market ... which is not very comfortable at all. We had overseas guests staying nearby and chose this place, but the staff kept rushing us to eat our food, even the girl promoting beer was the rude, eye-flip a la wet market style. Not appetizing at all.
There were many people waiting outside the restaurant after we left and I wondered if they were first timers or whether there is a masochistic side of us that we all need to attend to every now and then.
No overseas guests here again (or here again at all) unless you wish to show this side of HK...
