The location was great. NO WIFI, COLD SHOWER AND NOISY. WiFi was terrible, you can’t connect to WiFi AT ALL … they gave me a room on the 7th floor and when I checked in they told me that WiFi on the 7th floor has its own WiFi network and password but I might have trouble connecting to it because on the 7th floor is very weak. Therefore, they gave me another network and pass in which I could use it in case I couldn’t connect. It means that they knew they have this issue but they still put me on a floor with no WiFi and at the end of the corridor which was even worst with the connection. Anyways, both of them wasn’t working so I called them and they told me I could connect to the 6th floor’s WiFi. USELESS as well. I couldn’t connect to ANY WiFi. You connect and it will disconnect in 5 seconds. They seems to know there’s a connection problem but they won’t solve it. Don’t take shower at night because you will end up with cold water. You will have hot water for the first 2 mins then it will change to cold water and that’s it. Mornings, when I was brushing my teeth, hot water seems to be fine. I don’t know if it was only my room or all rooms are like that but I had a sleepless night. The sound of the drainage of the bathroom from upstairs was making sounds every 20-30mins. I don’t think is someone who was using the bathroom every 20-30 mins. It was just their drainage system or something on the ceilings that keeps making water noises from the walls. The whole experience was horrible. I COULD NOT SLEEP AT ALL. It will just give you a tiredness day on your trip. Good luck if you really decide to stay...
Read moreI feel fortunate to have found hospitality in this city where money is everything.
I have a quiet room just off the noisy entertainment district! That alone is remarkable, but the price is great, and most of all I have real HOSTS, who kindly opened a room early for me when I was feeling ill (Parkinson's patients, try to watch out for MSG overload in the delicious dim sum we came to Hong Kong to enjoy!)
The rooms are small but spotless, and the hotel faces a small park -- another rarity in this densely packed city.
When I left feeling better, the desk clerk who refused a monetary gift for hauling my bags (!) gave good advice about where might be the most interesting walks nearby ... this led me to many hours of fun without a bus or subway.
If youwant the soul of Hong Kong where the residents have fun, stay here. Great local restaurants but also international favorites like Saizeria, Sushiro, Don Don Donki & Aeon for those wanting virtual Japan, & of course KFC & McDonald's if you're homesick (KFC here has the famous Macao specialty egg tarts -- if you miss them, you miss a lot!)
The hotel also found a room for me on Saturday night, when nothing was available online -- again kindness over profit. I pity the tourists of Tsim Sha Tsui who will pay 3-5 times what MK charges for a real & pleasant stay in the locals' favorite hood -- it still has the bright lights but at local prices! (Just watch out for night market temptations ... I ran out of cash on the bargains there in luggage, fun but exquisite jewelry, & endless Hong Kong...
Read moreThe location was the main selling point for us, along with a good central location, near two different MTR stations. The hotel is being renovated, so the elevator was in the middle of having the interior completely redone. Beyond that the renovations didn't affect us because our room and that hall (14th floor) was already finished, and we heard no construction noise. The room was tiny; that's normal enough in Hong Kong. We kept considering how someone of above average size could even fit in the bathroom to shower since it was a lot putting a shower head in an airplane bathroom, so that you had to stand right at the toilet during showering, essentially over it. It didn't change all that much for me but I could imagine some visitors being put off by it. The blinds in the room were cool, to cite one positive aspect; they could be opened in different ways to be completely open, to screen some light and any view in, or to completely shutoff all exterior light entry. ||||Beyond that it was just a very clean, modern, small place to stay. Value was good; the cost was moderate for Hong Kong. There are a lot of places to eat along the road parallel to the main street...
