Almost walked past this unassuming restaurant but went in to try without checking any previous comments. Their specialty seems to be fish congee, namely carp and all parts of it are available to put into your rice porridge. I went for the typical carp belly, the thing with carp is that it can have a grassy flavour and as many bones as a fish can have. Neither of these should put you off here. Although as expected the fish came with mouthfuls of prickly bones, as long as you can navigate around and pick them back out of your mouth you are OK. I would say not recommended for young kids or adults not accustomed to doing this. The congee was very tasty and full of umami. I also ordered blanched fish skin that is always eaten with lots of spring onion and ginger slivers. All in all it was one of the more expensive breakfasts I have had but I would say it...
Read morei was here for a breakfast with hot chinese congee. the shop wasn't busy at 8-ish on Sunday, plenty of seats. menu on the wall, it's quite old and traditional style. i ordered a fish congee with fish maw and a fried dough. the dough was made and put aside for a while, not crispy, but i didn't mind since was gonna dip them in. a 10 mins wait for freshly made, and the congee was superb!! not a hint of fishy scent, the congee was so soft! a lot of bones with it but it's expected, so i enjoyed the time to sip the hot congee, then carefully picked the bone, repeating it for the following half an hour. the fish maw was soft, i definitely love the chewy texture of it. and i think it's not quite easy to find in restaurant for fish maw congee. it's very tasty here, i do recommend it.

Read moreI had heard about this delicious porridge restaurant near Jordan station, so I decided to check it out myself. It was about a 5 minute walk from the station, and seemed like it was family-owned. I ordered the beef porridge topped with fried tofu skin. It was good, but not as thick in consistency as I had hoped. I prefer my porridge to be more creamy. I also ordered the fish collagen carpaccio, made with the collagen from the fish eye, but I probably won't be ordering this dish again. It wasn't really to my taste, but maybe if it were cooked, I would've been able to enjoy it more?... Anyways, the porridge was decent, so I recommend it if that's what...
