I really enjoy going to this restaurant. This is the second time I have visited this restaurant with my family the last time was over 10 years ago. I wasn't sure whether its still around after hearing a lot of the old favorites in the city have closed so happy to be able to try it again. The food quality and taste are very much as my first visit back then which is excellent. The signature dish of chicken wing in Swiss Sauce, Portuguese Style Chicken rice and Ox tongue are must for me. Souffle is also a must too even tho we haven't got room for it this time but have try it during my first visit. Atmosphere wise its more of the mid 20th century vibe, kind of take you back in time to its heydays in Hong Kong. The waiters are very much dress to that era and seems to me they have been with the restaurant a long time too. Very professional in their service. Prices are on the higher end but the quality is there and the uniqueness is worth it. If you want to try something that showcase the taste of old Hong Kong with fusion of east and west cooking I would highly recommend this place while its...
Read moreThe ambiance is thoroughly old-school, which is charming in its own fashion.
The pricing is very high for what you're getting.
I really was expecting to hate their Swiss chicken wings (160) as overhyped and overpriced, but I have to admit, these are the best chicken wings in this style I've had. I normally avoid the fatty skin on soy sauce chicken wings, but they managed to retain enough fat that you can taste it, but without being too fatty. The sauce was also very well-made - quite sweet, with a delectable caramelized flavor.
The 干炒牛河 (105) was overhyped and overpriced. Nothing special here.
The souffle (128) tasted different than the souffles I've eaten before in the United States. It was so light on the inside, it was almost like a liquid foam, that is just barely firm enough to be holding its shape. Interesting, though I think I swallowed too much air eating it, and it made my stomach a bit uncomfortable.
There's a 10%...
Read moreNew years eve dinner Would of given 4-star rating until the very end-- we ordered 2 set dinners and as we were leaving I saw the menu again and saw we were supposed to get dessert and a drink(coffee/tea/orange juice) I went back to ask the staff and he said 'you didn't ask for it so we assumed you didn't want it' I have never heard of this in my dining experience- normally it's the staff that ask what you want to drink or remind you that you haven't ordered a drink not my job to remind them. Also we ordered dessert (the souffle) so clearly we wanted dessert, the wait staff couldn't be brothered to ask what we wanted from the set dinner?!! I understand this place is popular for some of its dishes and ambiance, but does it excuse this kind of service? Feels like we got jeeped out of our meals when minimum spend is $250/person too!! Up until leaving their service was great- attentive, now left a sour note on New...
