I chose this place to conclude my business trip in Shanghai. A total mistake and disappointment. The scenery was average, as you could pretty much get similar or better view angles at any other restaurants along the Bund. The food was mediocre at best. Xintiandi, which is a 5-6 mins ride away from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, has many more restaurants that offer better foods and at a much more reasonable price. The service, if there even was any, was THE WORST. I've never met a more horrible server than the Asian 'manager .' Gave an attitude right from the beginning when asked questions bout the menu. Didn't bother to explain the dishes either. However the highlight was towards the end, when he came with the dessert platter and left it at the opposite end of my table on purpose. Almost had to get up and fetch it myself. He seemed like a lively and amicable guy toward the group of Caucasians sitting next to me. So why the attitude and the attempt to embarrass a specific customer I have no idea. Waiters seemed to have a hard time paying attention to the customer's requests. They forgot about my dessert before forgetting to give me my change at the counter. Having visited Shanghai three times so far, I've always been able to find at least one positive about each of the place I ate. Not this one though. The Bund is about 2.6 km long. For the price you're paying here, you literally have numerous different choices. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this absolute bummer. Or go and feel the despair and emptiness wash over...
Read moreIf you're here for the food, it's ok, but not fantastic. Everything tasting fine but it wasn't the meal you'd expect for a £200 British pounds meal for a 3 course for two with a bottle of wine.
But what made this experience worth while and why I wasn't fussed to pay that price was for the view.
I came here on my first evening in Shanghai and my first experience of the Shanghai skyline - and it's something that genuinely blew my socks off.
The view you get is exceptional from their terrace area, which we always snuck out to in-between our courses and to enjoy finishing off our bottle of wine before our dessert came out. You're about 5 stories up from what I remember and can see all sides of the Huangpu river.
The staff were also very friendly and some were English speaking which helped. If this is your first time in Shanghai, I'd recommend booking a table here just...
Read moreWe went Saturday night, my parents are visiting Shanghai and it was my father's birthday. The atmosphere and the service are great. The food was pretty good, not great. Three of us ordered the set menus with the halibut option for the main. The starters were-meh, but the halibut, it was very bad. Oily and bland. Since the portion is so small, in the three bites it takes to decide it is terrible, it is gone. Nothing left to send back. Just drenched in oil. I know this is China, but my father's portion had several bones in it as well. Very disappointed in this highly recommended restaurant. There are too many other choices in Shanghai to blow big dollars on dinner to ever...
