Even before you walk in the restaurant distinguishes itself from its neighbors with its plant-covered walls and inviting atmosphere. As it was a weekend there was a bit of a line before we were seated, and there were some small mishaps at the start due to how busy it was, but that truly doesnt matter much when looking at the overall quality of the service and food. We had the codfish cakes to start (don't look at the four pieces in the photo, we already at two before remembering to take pictures hahaha, which were soooo good. Well-seasoned, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice balance of flavors. The main course dishes were portioned much bigger than expected, so for two people getting a few more starters or side dishes with only one main probably would've been better. That said, both the pork knuckles and chicken were delicious and we immensely enjoyed the food. The pork skin was so crispy and struck a nice balance between chewy and soft, while the chicken was tender and imbued with flavors that went great with the rice. Also, bonus points for having ginger ale AND cream soda on the drinks menu, I so rarely see either of those available and they're my favorite soft...
Read moreToday was the last day of our trip and also a birthday of the mother of my wife. So, we decided to celebrate it with something special. A Portugese Michelin Restaurant, what could go wrong? Well, almost everything. The only real Portugese there were our drinks, a can of Limonade and bottle of Beer. Both cheap in Portugal. I am from Germany and have visited Portugal many times and love Portugese food. What we have got has nothing to do with it. First, the rice is not the rice used in Portugal. The taste was more like Chinese fried Rice. Secondly, pasta was cooked too long and too soft. In Italy they would probably throw it away immediately. A complete disaster! I have never tasted such a poor quality in a restaurant. How could they get to Michelin guide? The only Michelin there was a price. Really expensive, even for Europe. For all European tourists - you will not find your food here. For all Chinese tourists - please, avoid this place as it has nothing to do with Portugese food....
Read moreDuring our recent lunch, we found the Taipa branch to look and feel similar to the original Restaurante Litoral. The seating area is Portuguese in decor with tables spaced out fairly. Service is timely and capable. Menu is Portuguese and Macanese in cuisine.
We tried the Chorizo (spicy sausage) that was very good. The sausage was succulent and tasty, served with a few olives, this was a good starter.
We also shared the Arroz de Pato (duck rice) that is smaller than what is served at the original restaurant but just as good. There was plenty of duck and the rice was excellently flavoured with seasoning and duck fat, topped with a bit of ham and chorizo. This was vey tasty, one of the best duck rice servings we've had in the past year or two.
Overall, very pleased with our recent lunch at Restaurante Litoral Taipa. This was much better than last meal had a few backs when this was just a cafe. Based on this meal, we will be back much...
