This was a prime experience from soup to nuts! The restaurant is located in the heart of La Fortuna with open-air streetside dining. The restaurant is clean, attractive and comfortable. The staff were all warm, kind, and welcoming-just as Costa Ricans seem to be overall. The real attraction here, though, is the food! I had the Fajitas Tejanas and my sister ordered the Arroz con Pollo. The fajitas dish was presented in a most sensational way, on a large cutting board and included beef, chicken, and shrimp together with grilled onions and green peppers. It also offers a choice of 2 sides, for which I chose a fried plantain, covered in melted cheese and mixed vegetables. The veggies were perfectly seasoned and cooked, while the plantain was just as good as it gets. The shrimp were quite large and very meaty. I was surprised that the dish did not include tortillas, but it made no difference at all - I could not finish what I had and frankly, I can't see that the tortillas would have added anything. The Arrzo con Pollo was a heaping serving of, essentially, Costa Rican fried rice. Also perfectly seasoned. Both dishes were served fresh and very hot. We shared a salad that sliced lettuces, finely shredded carrots and beets and was encircled by a ring of hearts-of-palm. The dressing was oil and balsamic vinegar, along with a side serving of hot sauce. Fresh and delicious! This restaurant is not worth a single visit; if you go, you will want to return over and over. I highly...
Read moreHi everyone — this place is the worst.
When we first arrived at La Fonda 506, we were wondering why it was so empty. But we still decided to give it a try and sat down. They brought us water, and then came the menus — and that’s when we noticed something was really off!!!
The menu they gave us was totally different from the one we saw!!!. This new one was way more expensive!. At first, we thought it was just a mistake… but no. After comparing, it became clear: this place uses two menus — one with fair local prices, and another one with inflated prices, clearly meant for people who speak English or don’t know any better.
Let’s be real — this tactic is disgusting! 🤢🤮. It feels like a scam. And it’s so frustrating to see a business treating customers this way. We were lucky to notice and check the reviews in time.
We got up to leave, and suddenly someone came running over with the "correct" menu, trying to get us to stay. But it was too late. At that point, we honestly felt uncomfortable and even scared they might do something to the food after we caught on to what was happening. Sorry I didn't took photos because things happened fast but if you get a menu that prices are 10.000+ 18.000+ with a black hard cover that's the wrong menu.
I’m sure the staff may be nice and the food might be okay, but this dishonest practice ruined everything.
⚠️ Please don’t eat here!!!!, or if you do, be extremely careful. ASK FOR THE PAGE MENU AND NOT THE FANCY ONE. I want to give this a 0 stars.
Read moreWe ate here on our first night in La Fortuna because as it was close to our hotel it was convenient. But the servers (especially Kimberly) were so nice and smiling and kind, we ended up eating here 3 out of our 5 nights in La Fortuna. The food is good, but nothing out of the extraordinary and the price is kind of high, but nothing extreme. Honestly the main reason we came back so much was the service and the overall nice vibe of this place. Kimberly was so nice and remembered us and inquired about our days and we just liked her so much, she even offered us food from the buffet to taste. We ended up eating at the buffet the night afterwards and it was great. Thank you Kimberly and all the staff (whose name we didn’t ask:() for making this a comforting...
