There was plenty of parking at this hotel. The check-in staff was friendly and efficient. They gave us a map and lots of information about the town. They showed us their resident sloth, too!||The parking lot is secured by a gate at night. We rented the large house for 4 nights. Everything was very clean. The kitchen was stocked with oil, spices, coffee, sugar, etc. It even had some sauces and a fresh bag of ice in the freezer. The mattresses were okay - enough to get a comfortable night’s sleep. The hotel is a short walk into town.|The area has very high winds causing the upstairs rooms to be very noisy. We enjoyed sitting outside relaxing on the porch swings. The staff contacted us after the 3rd night asking if we needed any housekeeping.||There is plenty of counter space in the bathrooms. Unfortunately, not much hot water. The second shower was always just luke warm if multiple people took back to back showers. The rooms didn’t have a place to put bags on (just a small night stand), so we ended up putting them on the other bed in the room. The outlets were on the walls, but not near the night stand. The power went out nightly due to the high winds - sometimes just a few minutes, but one night it was out for 4 hours. Each room has a flashlight.||Despite some of the short comings, we really enjoyed this hotel. We were able to cook some of our own meals with the well equipped kitchen, enjoyed relaxing on our porch hammocks, liked being so close to the town center, and enjoyed being able to spread out in...

We loved this place. Although you are only a short walk to all the amenities of the town, the gardens are extensive and there is lots of wildlife to spot, especially butterflies. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much to ask.

The rooms are huge and clean, and the beds extremely comfortable (I have never seen such a thick mattress!). A fridge and coffee machine in the room were an unexpected bonus. The water in our room took a minute to run hot but it worked fine. Bug spray was available (although we didn't need it), and as Monteverde is at altitude, we found the weather quite cool so we did not need AC. The veranda is a nice place to sit and listen to the birds etc.

It was great to have a recycling bin in our room and find the bins not lined with plastic bags (it always horrifies me how many unnecessary plastic bin-liners and other waste is created by tourism); I wish more hotels would follow suit.

The breakfast was not extensive but this not a 4 or 5 star hotel and it was plentiful, fresh and tasty.

I'd definitely return to Claro de Luna; it's a great base to explore Monteverde and brilliant...

I was at first hesitant about this place because it was so affordable. It was beautiful and in the heart of the city. We walked to the restaurants and grocery store multiple times a day. We were able to take the tour buses to the zip line tours. The morning breakfast was best we'd had in Costa Rica. They had a table set out just for our family and it felt more like a bed and breakfast in my opinion. There is a side garden and the hostess went out of her way to answer all of our questions. When we asked for a place to launder our family's clothes they have a huge bag and washed and dried AND folded them for us for $20. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This place is magical - Erica, the owner w/ her husband John - is a lovely person, and the hotel is gorgeous as well. I saw more beautiful flowers here than in the rest of my week in CR - the grounds are stunning. The room, with its' 2 queen sized 4-poster canopy beds, and big bathroom [party shower!] was airy and clean. Each room has it's own outside patio, which is a nice touch - a good place to watch the afternoon rain! The breakfast room is also big and airy, and Erica - who is very fluent in English - cooks your eggs to order. We stayed an extra day in Monte Verde, in large part because this hotel was so beautiful and restful.
