I really wanted to like this place, with its minimalist appeal, and great location. Also, the bunkbed platforms were very sturdy, and gave extra space to keep your luggage. And the owner Uriel was great and did everything to try and make it a pleasant stay. But being a newly opened hostel, it is a work in progress, meaning there are still a few issues to work out. While I was there for 5 days, they had construction going on everyday right outside our dormroom window, starting at 7am, so no sleeping in. Plus, our dorm did not have a door at all, so no security, as the main entrance door had no lock on it either. That was never an issue for me, but it should be addressed. Plus, I had a problem trying to get my clothes cleaned through them, as they were returned to me in a plastic bag still wet. When I complained to Uriel about it, he promptly refunded my money for the cleaning and apologized, so I give him credit for that. He was great, and gave good advice on things to see and do in town, but given everything, my overall experience was not that pleasant. I think once all the construction is completed and he gets the kinks worked out, it will be a nice place. I just wasnt that lucky this time. Ps. You gotta visit the ficus "hollow trees" when your in town. These are the craziest trees you'll ever see...AND you get to...

The room is clean and spacious. No fan or air conditioning. The rooms are very loud and you can hear the bar and club around the corner till very late. The rooms have big windows on roof and wall and very thin curtains. The back rooms share a courtyard and staff bang the gate till very late.
The young male that was on the reception was utterly useless.
We had an issue where the locking mechanism was broke on our door and he advised that he had called the manager and maintenance person was not on shift.
He never followed up the next two days nor did any other staff.
Luckily we fixed it ourselves as no one cared nor offered any altenatives. It was clear the lock had been fiddled with as the screws inside had been threaded with an electric drill.
Loads of pretty places to stay up in Monteverde so be careful...

He helped us to reserve the excursions, so that once we got to the location, all we had to do was pay. He was available from 7am to 9pm, and was so helpful. The location of OutBox Inn was very central and in middle of town. Close to everything!
Disliked · The location of OutBox Inn was very central and in middle of town. For that reason, you can hear a lot of passing by traffic. The motorcycles are especially loud. It’s also very windy in Monteverde, so at night, it sounds like the building will get blown away. It was hard to sleep. The WIFI did not work in the rooms furthest away from reception. Our room (#7) didn't have any WIFI,...
