Every place that I’ve visited during my time in Costa Rica, I have been met with kindness and respect until coming here.
I was coming from across the street to enter the store and as I was a few feet away, arm reaching to open the door, an employee locked the door and turned the sign from open to closed.
There were still several people in the coffee shop eating and drinking. It was also well before closing as it was in the afternoon right after lunch.
I double checked the sign on the door which stated it closed at 7p. I also watched the confused faces of those sitting inside looking out at me.

The waitress could not explain to us in a clear way what were the different options and since we had difficulties to understand she had a very unpleasant attitude and showed us how stupid we were. Then when we sat down to enjoy our different coffees in the coffe shop, she kind of explained us that since she gave us paper cups it was for drinking outside and told us to leave in a very rude manner. I never been treated that way in any countries i visited. I regret that we bought anything from...
Read moreCafé Monteverde is a great little coffee shop right in the center of downtown Santa Elena (the heart of Monteverde).. There are so many cafés to choose from here, but after visiting this location once we were sold! The owner and his staff are not only warm and friendly, but they’re all very knowledgeable about the processes of coffee growing and brewing and they shared many interesting facts about the local traditions and techniques.. My Spanish is still pretty basic but communicating with the staff here was easy and comfortable.. Their coffee and tea selection is top notch and their pastries and baked goods are easily some of the best in town.. Even their prices are fair!! All in all this is a great shop to visit if you want to grab a coffee and...
