La Cocina De Doña Mayra — Restaurant in Monteverde

I got a Chinese Cantonese rice and my girlfriend got a Burrito with chicken in. My rice was pretty tasty and I especially liked the Chinese sausage in it, but it had no shrimps and it was really greasy. However, my girlfriend's burrito came with some other kind of meat as well as chicken, possibly beef, but we weren't really sure, and it had some melted American burger cheese in it and no rice... very unexpected. She was asked if she wanted chips with it and she declined, but it came with chips anyway, although they told us that we didn't have to pay for them. When we finished, we had to wait for a very long time for the bill, because the waitress was too busy flirting with two men at the bar. We had to get up and interrupt her before we could ask to pay. For only 3000 colones, you can get a full casado that will warm your soul. Just look at the the pics.

This gorgeous restaurant is tucked away 1 block from the city center. There is a monkey out front and you can see abuela cook from the windows. The back has a full garden and bar.

The menu isn’t expansive, but it doesn’t need to be. I would recommend coming here for their cadaso de pollo. It’s the best I’ve had in Panama...

They changed their name so it’s called two names on google maps- it’s the restaurant with a monkey figure outside! The grandmom there cooked the food right in front of us and so quick! It felt so fresh and homey and the prices were amazing! Loved this cozy place and definitely recommend :)
