We stayed in Zadar for 4 night but only had an evening meal 3 times due to late flights on our arrival. We found this restaurant whilst looking for something traditional which came with great reviews.
We were so impressed on our first visit which was our second evening meal that we returned on our last night to sample some more fine food from a varied menu.
It is a little out the centre (the best restaurants tend to be) but is well worth the visit. The staff are very attentive and ensure that everything is just right for their guests. Their passion for food and their establishment shows as they go out of their way to please.
We had starters/main one night and main/desert the next. Enjoyed every course; full of flavour, perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. Delicious home made bread was also served. High quality, locally sourced and certainly not scrimping on quantity as each course was plentiful.
Both nights the waiter chose a local wine to accompany the meal. Full of knowledge and passion for what he served. They were very nice too and paired the meal well.
We would highly recommend and would definitely return if we visit Zadar again.
Many thanks, Michelle...
Read moreHad a dinner here, those google reviews/pictures got me craving. People working here are amazing, the main waitress was attending her child (I'm guessing) and serving us and she did everything really well, except one slip. We ordered a meat plate for 2 and were offered bread which we accepted (should not have, too much of food was served). While the portion was generous, quality was bad. Restaurant was not busy, but everything was badly overcooked, besides the fries. Steak was more than well-done and I mentioned it to the waitress, as I wanted a medium rare, and she said I should have said I wanted it medium rare. I mean it's fair, but I mostly get asked and when I am not, a restaurant will bring it at medium at most as beef at other levels is a crime. I think it would be at this restaurant, too, but they served me a shoe that looked like a steak. As mentioned above, everything was overcooked. Also, the pork was not fresh, it also smelt of boar taint on top of that, tried a piece, but that was it. Overhyped restaurant, but if they could shift a focus on a quality side, they could be...
Read moreWe checked the ratings and decided to go to La Pegla as another (also very well rated) restaurant nearby was more than full. We were very happy with both the food and the service in La Pegla - you really feel that the waitress is there to help you make your best choice: when we told her that we don't like fish and prefer meat, she recommended the meat plateau (for 2 persons on the menu) and suggested that as main dish, it would be enough for the 4 of us (family with 2 teenage girls). That was indeed what we did and we really appreciated her recommendation. She was also very attentive and saw things we needed even before we opened our mouth 🙂! On the menu there are also a couple of fine dishes with elaborated sauces, which I wish coming back to taste 😍. The seats outside were also perfect: you see the sea bay and passengers coming and going but you are not disturbed by that busy life. To summarize: a perfect culinary and tourist experience for us! We didn't feel treated as "revenue resource" as in many restaurant, but really felt...
