Danae Tavern — Restaurant in Κοινότητα Αγίου Τύχωνα

Firstly, I am really put off restaurants that have someone standing outside, pressuring you to come in. This restaurant does just that, so they're lucky that my parents liked it when they went previously!

The menu has a large choice of dishes of all types, which is great. The size of the portions is also good.

I ordered kleftiko, which ended up coming in pieces rather than a chunk. It was fatty and had shards of bone inside it, which wasn't pleasant to eat. Consequently, I ordered stifado the next time I came - it was better, but didn't have any tomato sauce which I thought was quite standard of the dish. The rice was rather bland; I recommend getting chips. The Greek salad was OK, but the feta was far too creamy and not crumbly enough.

Service and speed of food arriving is good, although I got the feeling that the staff are too stressed to be able to enjoy their jobs, and this came across.

Price is slightly more expensive than average. Good to see free warm cleansing wipes, food, and a drink at the end of the meal.

I had a wonderful evening at the Danae Tavern. I was greeted with a very warm welcome which made me feel very relaxed from the moment I arrived. I started the evening with a very delicious cocktail whilst looking through the menu to decide what to eat. The tavern has a very good choice on the menu from traditional Greek Mediterranean cuisine, as well as a choice of different fish and steak dishes including a choice for children. The service was excellent and it was great to be able to chat and get to know the waitress and learn about herself and the family who own and run the tavern. I wasn't sure which wine to choose, so the chef paired a beautiful bottle which complimented my steak perfectly. The Mussels I had to start were absolutely delicious and my Steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and full of flavour, the green pepper sauce was divine !! and as for the home made Chocolate Brownie, simply delicious. What a charming spot we discovered when looking where to dine in Limassol, that beautifully captures the essence of traditional Cypriot cuisine. The tavern exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with rustic decor and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The menu is a celebration of local flavors, featuring an array of classic dishes. We started with the tzatziki and halloumi, both of which were fresh and full of flavor. Then, the fish meze followed. We tried so much seafood that fulfilled our expectations. Everything was a perfect combination of tastes, couldn’t get enough of it.
