A Tale of Two Restaurants
Yummy India in Larnaka feels like two restaurants under one roof. For the South Asian diners around us, it seemed like a hidden gem—they ordered off-menu Thali plates (not offered to us) and looked like they were enjoying themselves. For everyone else, it’s a different story entirely.
Our meal (Samosa Chaat, Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Biryani, Aloo Gobi, Garlic Naan, Salty Lassi, and a tonic water) was a disaster. The samosas were stale, the biryani rice tasted like cheap broth with artificial flavoring, and the aloo gobi was borderline inedible—potatoes and cauliflower that seemed long expired and reheated. The naan sat untouched after the rest of the experience killed our appetite. Only the chicken pieces in the biryani and the salty lassi were tolerable.
Staff seemed to know how bad the food was—when we left most of the dishes untouched, there was no real attempt to fix or replace anything, just a quiet bill for €36.70.
If you happen to be part of the “other restaurant,” ordering the secret Thali, maybe you’ll be fine. But if you’re not, be prepared for one of the worst Indian meals...
Read moreExcellent place with amazing food. Yes, the interior not luxury one, but it’s looks more authentic. But the main pros is the quality of food - I like Indian cousin and have eaten numerous times at different Indian caffe in Russia and Europe, and I sincerely think that this one is not just one of the best, but it’s absolute winner.
By the way, one of my friend who lived in India for a long time admitted that food served in Yummy India is almost as good as the most delicious food he tried in India.
I live here in Cyprus for almost 2 years and 80 % of times when I order a food I do it at Yummy India.
Also I should notice that personnel at Yummy India is superb. They always friendly and pay attention to you.
And especially I want to praise the man who usually deliver a food to me, he is really intelligent, very friendly and nice.
And of course I want to say thanks to chief who make all this wonderful food. I don’t know how i’ll...
Read moreThis was a real discovery! Food was simply awesome - didn't expect to discover such a nice Indian place in Larnaca! I always loved Indian food - but it is so much of a "hit and miss" affair usually! And even when good, food can usually be more on the "heavy" side than in the "delicate" one... Yummy deserves its apt name!!! Food is indeed YUMMY there. Onion Baghi were beautiful, moist and flavorful... Chicken tikka was tender and flavorful... The curries (Chicken Tikka Massala, with great and delicate spice flavours; Lamb Vindaloo was exceptionally tender and - as expected- very much on the fiery side but not overpowering) were exceptional. The service was great - pro active, nice and pleasant... Nothing negative really to say altogether! So definitely our next "go to" place when next...
