Went to Fat Mammas about 10 years ago and it was great. Things have gone massively downhill since then. First thing that irked me on arrival...no draught beer. The only place in the whole of Cyprus to not sell draught beer! Why? Blatant profiteering!! €4.50 for a 330cl bottle of Budweiser!!! Come off it!!! Service was good, staff were really nice, attentive and friendly. But the food was sub-standard. Yes the portions are large but the quality is poor. Such a shame as this place used to tick all the boxes. And the "entertainment"?
It all just felt a bit depressing. 3 girls kept coming out in different outfits prancing around with fake smiles when in reality, you know they were crying on the inside at having to take these jobs which, lets face it, is scraping the bottom of the barrel in the world of theatre...I'm sure they were hoping for better things in life.
The most entertaining part for me, was looking at the faces of other patrons watching the show. There was everything from joy, sadness, tragedy and pity in their faces!!! That in itself was worth the cost of the massively overpriced food.
Like Chinese nail bars and Barbers in the UK, money laundering is a obviously afoot here. 10% discount for cash and they accept sterling!!! Card transactions cost the establishment 0.2%, so how is a 10% discount for cash justifiable....it's not!!!
The patrons in this establishment are from the scurge of society. If you have 7 kids, are morbidly obese, covered in tattoos (at least one of which is either a date of birth, a date of death or the name Chardonnay) and a chain smoker, you'll fit right in and you'll have a great time. If you are none of the above, avoid like the...
Read moreWe came here bc of the recommendations and wow they were right! We came late, bc we saw how busy this place is. So went down just before 9pm. Had a 5 min Q and then seated by English staff. All the staff are mostly 🇬🇧 from what I can see. They are not trying to be Cypriot. All working with lovely attitude. Was told portions sizing is big. So chose a starter with caution! Myself, hubby and 2 sons ate the nachos. Was well enough for 4!! Very good too. Compared to others in the area. The mains were all of big sizes, all eaten and delicious! We saw desserts going around us as we ate….. so chose the chocolate cake for 3 to share again! It’s a very large piece of yummy chocolate cake, cream and ice cream. My hubby had the sundae, again big size. While eating we were entertained by the 3 ladies dancing and jumping about, in this heat was impressive and also a nice change from some of the terrible acts I’ve seen elsewhere of poor singers in restaurants after our meals. I do not drink. So food is important to me. If you want a bit of American/English cuisine for a change of meal to the Cypriot restaurants, come here. We have been loving all the restaurants we have been to while staying here for 2 weeks. Cannot fault any of them. But a nice americanised meal as well complimented our stay. Let’s face it once home I’ll be eating healthy! Really enjoy it guys. Well done to you...
Read moreStaff were good, that’s maybe the only positive I can give for this restaurant.
I’m not sure where to begin with the food; it was either bland or too salty. We ordered the ‘Taste of Cyprus’ starter… in fact this was the worst meal I’ve had so far on my holiday, the majority of which we’ve been eating at places selling traditional Cypriot food, so thought we’d give somewhere else a try. If you want to dip your pitta in tubby custard, and you think the halloumi served in McDonalds down the road is restaurant quality, you’ll love this.
The sharer plate was very salty and overall not good, we’d visited based on a yummy looking photo of the ribs, but don’t be fooled, because the words I would use to describe the taste are not fit for a google review.
The entertainment was poor, and but we did get a laugh out of the Stavros Flatley Shrine on the way to the loos. That being said, the three dancers did try their best, maybe it was just not to our taste.
If you’re a classic Brit whose afraid of trying anything other than burgers, chips, and pizza, this might be a good place for you, but if you like to enjoy your food I would maybe pass and opt for one of the better restaurants on the road, such...
