After some walk around the city (Jan.15, 2024), my wife and I were hungry, and had appetite for some Indian food. Looking things up in Google Maps, we found 3 Indian Restaurants, all more or less close by one another. We picked the Tandoor King Restaurant, because we certainly like food prepared in the Tandoori oven, and the pictures shown were appealing.
Once we entered the restaurant, we were friendly greeted, guided to an empty table and got the menu handed. Choosing took some time - there is a huge (and I mean HUGE) variety of food to choose from. Interestingly, they have ratings for spiciness, and it goes from zero to 12 (!!) chilli. Well - we didn't try that one, to be honest, but - it was sooo tempting!
We ordered Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Madras; I was tempted to try the Vindaloo Chicken, but I chickened out on the Phall dishes. In addition, we had Garlic Naan and Egg Fried Rice, Coke and a Mango Lassi.
Even after serving the meal, the staff was attentive, asking whether everything was ok and to our liking (which it was), without being intrusive (as it can sometimes be when in American restaurants).
The Tandoori Chicken was well done, nicely spiced and had great taste. The Chicken Madras was ok as well, but here, I should have been more daring and should have taken the Indian spiciness. As ordered (European style), it was too mild for my liking, but that does not say it wasn't good. The portions where satisfying - we were not able to finish the rice but polished everything else.
I also ordered a Mango Lassi, which was great as well. Satisfied, we had some more small talk with the staff bevore leaving and would definitely go back there any time.
I have to say - tasty meal! Very much so - I can definitely suggest to get your food here. If you come by car, you can even try to get a parking place there (although it's often...

I am writing this review for only the vegetarian dishes (I am a vegetarian).
We visited the restaurant yesterday around 2pm. We were super hungry and craving for veg food. We chose this restaurant only and only because firstly it was "Indian" and sold vegetarian dishes. It was later we realized that it was run by a Bangladeshi. The owner outright refused to serve us the quantity of food we wanted!! I mean seriously?!! Agreed that it was a long weekend(Easter weekend). Had he not anticipated the crowd to surge during such long weekends?! He gave us the excuse of high demand and skeletal staff. We had to settle only for one Naan and one side dish with a plate of basmati rice. He took 30 minutes to serve. Whatever we ate in the name of "Vegetable madras" curry was absolute garbage. I don't know since when Veg dishes from India start having broccoli as one of the ingredients!! It was nothing but cauliflower and broccoli mixed with potato and tomato sauce. The naan was another disaster. If you do not know how to prepare one, please learn!! All these pakis, bangladeshis running a restaurant with a "India" tag name can try all they want but cannot prepare a Indian vegetarian dish for god's sake. It is simply not in their brain to understand what a "vegetarian" dish is. It is not just dumping all vegetables in a pan and pouring salt and pepper and voila! a dish is prepared!! No! it does not work that way! Please!! If you wish to run a business, pls name it under your own country name. Customers are fooled by the name "Tandoor" and "Indian" attached to a name. I highly recommend vegetarians to avoid this place. Simply not worth. You are better off with snacks which you bring on your own. I shall neither NEVER visit this place nor recommend this...
Read moreSCAM ALERT:! They say they do not have change for your cash but then take the cash and ask you to pay by credit card without returning your cash.
Full story: We initially left a 5 star review as the food and service was good, however, after we left our review (we were asked to do it by the waiter in the restaurant before we paid) something odd happened.
We tried to pay our 600 check with a 1000 bill. The waiter came back and said he could not break it. We said fine, we'll pay by credit card. We thought it odd that he ran off with the 1000 bill again, so we thought he was going to double check if he could break it. He returned without the 1000 bill and asked us for our credit card. We asked him for the 1000 bill. We would not give him the credit card without getting our 1000 bill back. He looked surprised and ran off again. He came back with the 1000 bill and so we then paid by credit card.
We thought it odd but were sort of flustered as we were trying to leave. We even asked about leaving a tip and ended up doing it via a separate credit card charge.
When we got back to the hotel we discussed what happened. When they could not break the bill why did he not immediately hand it to us and take our credit card to process right away? Why did he leave and return without the bill then ask us to pay by credit card?
This entire scenario seemed intentional. We were obviously tourists and if they got away with it, it would be our word against theirs, and chances are they would never see us again.
So if you eat here, the food is good, the service is good, but make sure you are not scammed out of your cash. Now I'm concerned about the charge and will be following up to make sure that wasn't tampered...
