Service was not good.. at all. Server was not friendly and had an “I can’t be bothered” attitude, even though we were all friendly and smiling since we were so happy to FINALLY find Indian food. He stayed seated when we walked in so we kind of weren’t sure if he works there or he’s eating there, just looked at us with a blank stare that made things a bit confusing 😅 Also, I went to him to place my order, he made no effort to come take the order himself.
At the end, he huffed at us loudly when we were counting our money to pay the bill 🤣 !! that’s why we decided to reduce his tip significantly 🙂)
The place was empty and there was no way to excuse this behavior by saying it was jam packed and he was under pressure..Maybe he was having a bad day or maybe that’s how his attitude is in general but this will drive customers away or not encourage them to come back.
We ordered a veg pakora and got a weird ball with what is most definitely chicken inside it. We ate that, its ok, we didn’t complain because we’re hungry.
The samosa is really good, has a good spice kick and comes with a nice tamarind sauce on the side. The naan (plain, butter, and garlic) ALL very good. The dhal makhani is an abomination and insult to authentic Indian food. It had red kidney beans in it and barely any spices?! The tandoori chicken was ok. The paneer was roasted over the fires of hell itself (hence they were a bit tough and dry) The butter chicken was a bit on the sweet side BUT the only thing that I liked and tasted some true Indian spices and seasonings in.
The Chai Karak was good and a huge portion.
Toilets need to be dusted and cleaned. I had 4 spiders 🕷 chilling with me in the toilet stall, but I prefer to go alone. 🫣
This place has potential for growth and improvement but it’s a definite no-go...
Read more[EN] Dear "Saffron" Team. When I was here friday evening with a friend, my anticipation was very high to eat delicious indian food at your restaurant. Also the reviews were very good that we decided to eat here. When we came in, the waiter sat at the entrance with earpods, listening to music I think and writing on his phone. He looked not that motivated to work. When we sat down at a table, we saw that some paper plates at our table and tables next to us were dirty and used, and as it looked, not just used once. Also there was a dead animal, I dont know what it was, but it also looked so, that it was there not just since a few minutes... When the waiter served us, first he weared his earpods, later not any more, and when he gave us the bill, he weared some earpods again. Also the first 15 or 20 minutes when we were there, some of the staff phoned with somebody very loud. When I would speak the language they spoke, I had understood them very clearly... Thats not very nice in opposite of the customers. And as I noticed, we were the only guests inside the restaurant, till we ordered the bill. Still, that shouldn't happen. But like other reviews here, the food was very very good. 5 of 5 Stars just for the food. Nothing to fault. For those of you, which want to know what we had: Naan bred, Chicken soup, Chicken Massala and Chicken Madras. But the restaurant definitely has to work on his hygiene and the behaviour in opposite of guests, even if there are not that much guests. Exspecially because of this massive negative point of hygiene and the staff which was not that motivated, just 2 of 5 stars. I am sorry to give such a review like that, but yes. Please change these things. Maybe next time the staff shouldn't hear music and keep writing or phoning for fun, and clean up a bit...
Read moreWe found this Indian restaurant on our outing to Karlovy Vary. The location of the restaurant is a bit far from the main colonnade area. It's a 15 mins walk. Despite following Google Maps' suggestions, we couldn't locate the entrance door as it was not properly lit. We reached around 7.30 PM and were told that the restaurant would be taking the last order as the kitchen was closing down. This seemed very surprising as it didn't leave much room for us to explore the options. The menu was extensive though and had plenty of options to choose from. We ordered the DAL MAKHANI, VEG KADHAI, GARLIC NAAN, BUTTER NAAN, and STEAMED RICE. There was nothing to complaint about the food but it didn't stand out as well. The only surprise was that they served some yellow dal instead of dal makhani. We were so hungry that we didn't care and dived in but the taste was good. Portion size was okayish. The serving staff was pushing us to make the order asap which seemed like a bit...
