This is relatively new place, which is using tapas approach. In other words be ready to share with your frienda around the table :) Restaurant is easy to find, outside there is a huge sign. You can come by car and drop it on Florenc open parking nearby. Public transportation covered by Florenc station and tram stop from the opposite side. Overall atmosphere is quite nice - dimmed lights and calm music. Interior finished in classic vintage style which looks good in reality. You can see some of the elements on the photos. Some things go too far in my opinion - having different glasses on one table is a bit weird in my opinion. The same can be said about chairs. Place can be easily considered romantic due to such atmosphere. It is possible to catch seat by the window, but keep in mind that they sometimes keep door open (even in the evening) so you will be feeling some wind behind your back. Staff greets you immediately, and ready to help you with choosing something. Our waitress wasn't too persistent, but was nearby when we needed her. There are two menus - one for main courses and another one for desserts. Choice is not that big, but here it is a good thing because you will be able to pick something quicker. Note that this tapas restaurant, so portions are not that big and you will have to order several meals at once. Yes, this is not cheap, but quality is amazing. Pizzas are not that big, but it should be enough for one evening in my opinion. Note that there is also wide choice of wines offered. We decided to go straight for desserts - carrot and apple cakes. I have to say that both were amazing and looked good. Portion might look small on the first sight, but in reality it was just the right amount. Maybe it would be cool to have a chance to buy whole carrot cake (for takeaway) for some attractive price... Coffee and tea offered in nice sets, both taste good. Of course, you can pay by cash or by card here. In my opinion this restaurant deserves five stars only. I am not sure why everybody is shocked by prices - I didn't find any mention of being affordable written on this restaurant. Moreover, menu displayed outside, so you can see all prices before entering and nobody is trying to trick you. I would definitely come there again, food quality and atmosphere were...
Read moreMy journey with Amano has started ever since I discovered the establishment simply during my afternoon walk.
Now personally, I started my first experience at Amano by having lunch, during which I personally decided to rekindle my experience with steaks.
Now, to be completely honest, I haven't tried many places with steaks, therefore I wasn't sure what to expect.
But I was very pleased with the steak and the side dish I selected.
I'm also thankful for the attentive waiter who kindly recommended me a glass of red wine.
Now, as this lunchtime first experience made me feel confident,
I decided to revisit for dinner as well.
Now, onto the food—I decided to try the following dishes:
Whilst waiting for the dishes, I also received an amuse-bouche which had an interesting concept: a creamy, buttery spread and an edible candle crafted from wagyu tallow and black pepper, paired with fresh bread.
I got a soup which, as a creamy soup lover, simply landed me in a land of flavor, with savory mushrooms and creamy fresh ricotta—just incredible!
As for my main dish, I opted for risotto with truffles and a Milanese egg.
From my personal experience, I just loved how perfectly cooked the risotto was, and the fresh truffles added the earthy and nutty aroma.
Oh, and it was my first time trying a Milanese egg, which I can only describe as the crispy, golden, creamy part of the dish.
As for my dessert, I had a dish I had high hopes for: a pistachio tiramisu. Now, personally, I love pistachio, and this beautiful and creamy creation was something that truly hit me with deeper appreciation.
As I approached the end, I knew my final drink would come. Whenever I typically finish my dinners, I just request a cup of espresso.
And yet, after having such a lovely experience, a part of me simply decided to try something sweet again...
And here it was... a saffron and yuzu sorbet and pistachio and white chocolate gelato, ending the evening on a sweet note.
The atmosphere felt amazing, and personally, I'd like to genuinely thank the waiter staff, including Mr. Kristian, for being my waiter for both lunch and dinner, maintaining a kind and professional attitude.
Until next time,...
Read moreWhen you first walk into this establishment, you wonder what kind of meal experience are you going to have in a place with exposed HVAC ducts a well lit kitchen at the far end, a bar as soon as you step in and a big table in the middle of the room with huge windows bottles on it.
What I can say is an outstanding meal. From presentation to taste, all 6 in our dining group were thrilled with our time at Amano. The food options were unique, and the experience at the restaurant from start to finish was fun. From the special metal blocks to keep the food end of your utensils off the table to the beef tallow candles for dipping your bread into, my experience at Amano was like no other I have had.
When my meal, a Guinea hen cutlet with potatoes and vegetables was served, our waiter explained to me each item on my plates and the sauce being poured onto my plate. My vegetables came in a small round bowl with a lid - and on the lid there appeared to be a ceramic yellow carrot. But alas, it wasn’t ceramic, but a well shaped and quite edible mousse made of carrot.
Not being an alcohol drinker, I paired my meal with lemonade - both a reasonable size (.5L) and price after experiencing dinky bottles (.25 to .30L for up to to 4€) throughout our month long trip through Central Europe.
The wait staff was extremely helpful and tolerant of 6 Americans who didn’t know Italian or the Slavic language spoken in Prague or any part of the Czech Republic. They spoke to us in English
If you want an excellent meal, a good and novel experience, and at a cost that won’t break your bank account, consider going to Amano. The only regret you will have is if you don’t go and...
