When I enter a pub I do expect to pay for things I do not want. The card 300kr entry point is nonsensical. I want to pay for what I consume, not a subscription or a theme Park token style of payment that only serves to elevate the entry fee and have you pay for things you may not want in advance. Out of the 300kr of the card 30 is for the piece of plastic that they force you to use as if it was some kind of predatory free to play mobile game. The staff is fluent in English and friendly until you ask them questions of the nature of "so I cant just pay for what I want using my credit card as in any other place in this world?" I have to buy a bundle of things up front without even knowing if I am going to enjoy it?" TT: tourist trap. My group left because we did not want to comit 15+ eur each to just enter the bar, so I cant speak for the quality of the best. I came here to share my experience and I was surprised to see so many people not minding this predatory business model. I guess we are spoilt in Spain beer wise both in quality and price and makes these places reek of...
Read moreGreat bar and an excellent concept. I wish they had similar bars in Sheffield! They have a good selection of beers, craft ales and a few ciders, plus some good food and friendly staff.
The concept is great. You pay a 30czk (around a quid) deposit for a card which you load with money (min. 300czk to begin with) then you place the card on the beer pump you'd like to drink and pull your own. It's charged per 100ml and you can see the balance remaining on the card on the screen. You can get a refund on any unspent balance. Each pump also has a glass cleaner to swill your glass before trying a new beer.
The drink and food prices are reasonable. It's a craft beer bar so don't expect to pay the same as a pint of the local lager, but it's cheaper than craft beer in the UK. My only gripe is that it's quite small and cramped. Trying to squeeze by everyone each time I wanted to try a different beer was a bit annoying. Overall, a great place to visit if you're in Prague and a concept that I'd like to...
Read moreTruly a unique beer pub! First the barkeep was wonderful he walked us through how to self serve your beer. You pay money and it goes on a car which you tap next to the beer that you want and it automatically deduct the amount of beer you pour from the amount of money on the card. You choose the Style glass that you want. They had I believe 14 years and all and at least one was a cider. There are also these little water fountains that allow you to clean your glass off if you want to sample a variety of beers before you make your final decision. The receptionist Tatyana at the Wenceslas Hotel Prague, a few doors up the street suggested we go there. Great hotel by the way. The atmosphere in the pub was fantastic lively but not too loud. It had little snacks you could also purchase and board games to play. Truly a wonderful unintimidating warm experience. Thank you Beer Point bar and Tatyana for this suggestion. Joanna...
