Tourist ripoff - bad food - run as far as possible!
Don’t get misled by the positive feedbacks for this restaurant! Save your money and go somewhere else.
If you read the negative feedbacks, you will find several hints that this restaurant divides his customers into two classes: Chinese and not Chinese. Depending on that, you get a different Menu. In the Front at the Counter are thin folded one page paper Menus with pictures of the Menus. This menu shows pictures of the different dishes and is usually handed to Chinese customers.
You can find a picture of this menu here in the feedbacks and pictures. As a tourist, you get a thicker menu. This menu has higher prices and the meals are far away from what you can expect as Chinese food. Unfortunately, we found out about the two menus after we ate and complained to the staff at the counter.
Personally, I was shocked and speechless when I got my meal. I had chicken sweet sour and I felt like at McDonalds. In general, the meal was made from frozen stuff that only needed to be reheated. The sweet sour sauce had peas, carrot pieces and corn in it which was very weird. The sauce itself was very thick. All in all it had no fresh ingredients and was of low quality and not comparable to any food you get in other restaurants. I was asked If I would like rice to my meal. I assumed it would be included but the rice (a medium cup) was chaired separately. The price difference between the tourist menu and the Chinese menus was in my case 148,- !!!
I also had a sea wheat soup which was ok but not good and my girlfriend had the Peking soup which is not recommendable due to the fact that no fresh ingredients are included and everything tastes the same. She also had noodle soup with sea fruits. The soup was also only ok but not good. The only positive thing was that the meals wereo ok served hot and the tea was ok. But prices are insane compared to what you get when you not order from the...
Read moreWARNING If you have no self control you shouldn't go there, they have big portions and the food is too good to leave behind on the plate!
We just went there and the staff was awesome from the beginning, very friendly and welcoming. The best server we've had since we came here. If you're worried that they might not understand you because you can only speak english, then you can leave all your worries behind, our servers english was perfect! We communicated without even one issue and all our questions have been answered kindly and with patience even though our server had a lot to do.
Our server recommended us some food as well after we had struggle picking because there is a lot of options in the menu to choose from. (vegetarian ones as well) :) We picked the hot iron duck, as she recommended, with a side of white rice each and it was very tasty! The duck was tender and crispy and the vegetables it came with were good as well.
Even though I had struggle eating it all because of the size, I tried my best, so I'd recommend visiting with a lot of appetite or a container to take your leftovers with you!
The staff even shared some chinese wine with us as we payed the bill and made our way out!
The only small negative was that they still have an old special menu online which they forgot to take down, but it didn't bother us that much.
To sum it up, it was a great experience with great staff and very good food, I'd definitely eat...
Read moreI came in this Chinese restaurant to eat Chinese food for the first time in my entire life (I like ethnograstronomy when I travel), the personnel is from North and South China (you can more or less guess it from their pronunciation) and I ordered in Chinese since I studied a bit of it. They were nice and available. I didn't have to wait too much. The food was awesome and portions of pasta and similar dishes are huge (they tell it to you if you are going to order too much). I ate some Chinese ravioli (jiaozi) probably steamed and filled with chicken meat (they offer you the soy sauce), then I had a chiken meat soup and eventually a huge dish of fried pasta with chicken meat. As a dessert, I ate fried banana balls with honey, which taste nice. As a drink, the only Chinese drink they have is the can of the famous Qingdao Beer. I was so filled that I could barely drink tap water! The local has a wi-fi connection and the menù is translated in English and Chinese. They offer you bamboo chopsticks but, if you need, they can give you fork and knife. Five stars without...
