We visited Restaurace Malostranská Beseda for lunch, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. This establishment is the original Pilsner Urquell restaurant, serving this iconic beer in various forms based on the amount of froth in the glass. We opted for the second least frothy option, and it was pretty good—chilled and delicious!
For our meal, we tried the beef gulas, which had a surprising similarity to mutton curry—super tasty! It was served with two kinds of dumplings that complemented the dish perfectly. We also ordered the roasted duck with red cabbage and dumplings, which was equally delicious and satisfying.
We chose to sit on the patio, where the refreshing wind was much appreciated after a long day of walking and sightseeing. The ambiance was lovely, making our meal even more enjoyable.
However, it was disappointing to discover that the restaurant had a paid bathroom. When I went to use the washroom, there was no one present to check, so I entered without knowing about the fee. This seemed uncalled for in a dining establishment and detracted slightly from the overall experience.
Overall, Restaurace Malostranská Beseda was a fantastic stop for lunch. The combination of great food, excellent beer, and a pleasant atmosphere made it a memorable experience, despite the bathroom situation. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine taste of...

We attended yesterday, the Prague Fringe Festival at this restaurant for a Cimrman Theater performance. We arrived 15 minutes early, and since my pregnant wife was thirsty, we decided to sit and have a drink on the ground floor. When I went inside to ask the waiter for a beer, he rudely shouted at me, telling me to wait at the table.
Shouting at customers/guests is unacceptable behavior in any situation, especially in a restaurant. The bearded waiter with glasses had an aggressive attitude, attempting to "educate" guests in front of their families. This kind of treatment made us leave the place immediately. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone who values respectful service.
Having lived in Prague for over five years, this was the first time I've encountered such poor service. Tourists should be aware that there are many other places in Prague with staff who respect and care for their guests.
I was very unhappy with this unique and negative experience. I didn’t dare to order, fearing further rude behavior from the same waiter. Thankfully, the bartender downstairs and the crew upstairs were kind, and we enjoyed the theater performance.
However, the rude waiter’s attitude ruined my day. If you have other options, consider them before choosing...
