I have a lot to say about this place, and most of it is negative. My complaint specifically being the unbelievably rude waiter that served us. First of all, the moment we entered, we all got a weird vibe from him. He didn't greet us, had a tone that matched the tone of an underpaid cashier that was being forced into work on a sunday. He simply pointed to a vacant table and rudely told me to close the door, which I assumed was automatic. My mistake, yet there's no need to be this unpleasant about it. First red flag we should've honestly dodged. Secondly, he took our orders in the most half-assed way you could imagine. He seemed to be in a hurry as he asked if we were ready to order, even though we hwd only received the menu 2 minutes prior. When we finally were ready to order, he didn't even bring a block and just stared at us. I was literally talking, and suddenly, just took our menus. WHILE I WAS ORDERING MY FOOD. Anyway, I am quite the picky eater, so I asked for no salad with my dish. GUESS WHAT? Even though he nodded at my request, the salad still ended up on my plate somehow. Either this stemmed from plain ignorance or from the fact he literally did not bring a block and simply forgot. Moments after he took our orders, he came back and asked one of the people I was with what their order was again. And only afterward did he realize that we were charged with about 6€ in 'service charges'. The audacity.
Food was alright though.
So, all in all, if you're willing to sacrifice a pleasant experience for some mediocre food, this is perfect for you. It's definitely some kind of tourist trap, so rethink if you genuinely want to visit this place. You might get lucky with another waiter though, as not all of the workers were rude and ignorant. If you're willing to take the chance, be...

Prague, a city that unfolds like a fairytale, where every cobblestone whispers stories and every corner reveals a hidden gem. It's a place where one feels like the protagonist of a whimsical adventure.
Sadly, this enchanting experience was marred by a truly dreadful encounter at U Svatého Mikuláše.
On Christmas Day, after a frustrating search for an open restaurant, we stumbled upon this establishment, lured by the promise of Svijany, a Czech beer tradition dating back to 1564. Our hopes were quickly dashed.
The initial interaction was a stark contrast to the warm spirit of Prague. A curt response to my inquiry about whether the restaurant was open set the tone for the entire experience. Despite this inauspicious start, we were hungry and decided to stay.
The food was a major disappointment. While the goulash had initial promise, the bread dumplings were dry and tasteless. The pork knee, a dish I had been eagerly anticipating, was bland and unappetizing. The accompanying garnishes were simply inedible.
To further exacerbate the situation, the service was incredibly rude. The waiter displayed a palpable disdain, rolling his eyes at every interaction. This level of disrespect was utterly unacceptable and truly soured the entire experience.
Worse still, the meal had a significant impact on my health. I became quite ill later that day, effectively ruining the remainder of our trip to Prague.
U Svatého Mikuláše is nothing more than a tourist trap, a stark reminder that not every establishment in this magical city lives up to the enchanting atmosphere. I urge travelers to steer clear of this disappointing and potentially harmful experience. Every time I think about that pork...
Read moreIf you're looking for a welcoming pub experience in Malostranské náměstí, stay far away from Pivnice U Svatého Mikuláše. This place is the definition of a tourist trap—rude staff and terrible service.
The waiters wouldn't even look at us, let alone take our order properly. When it was time to pay, we waited 20 minutes before realizing no one was coming. We had to search for the staff and ended up knocking multiple times on the staff room door before they finally came out. No apology, no urgency—just blank stares like we were inconveniencing them. After paying, not a single "thank you" or "goodbye"—just cold silence, as if they were mad at us for daring to pay and leave.
Beware! This is one of those places that survives on clueless tourists stumbling in, not on return customers. Never again! Save yourself the frustration and find a pub that actually...
