This is my second review as I deleted the first one because I couldn’t reply to the disrespectful owner of this place who responded with a rude and impolite manner just like his/her rude and impolite employee. I will repost the first review for people to judge my review and attach the disrespectful response of the disrespectful owner.
First review: I rarely write reviews but when I do, it is either because it was a very good experience or a very bad one. In this case, it is the latter. We came to this garden at 5:43 PM knowing it closes at 6 PM but the fact that it is very small, we knew it would not take us any longer than 10 mins to see it and leave. However, the lady working at the entrance of this garden started yelling at us “WE ARE CLOSED, WE ARE CLOSED” despite the fact that the door to the garden was open and we could clearly see many people inside. When I told her “it is still 5:43 PM and the garden closes at 6PM and we just need 5 mins”, she yelled again and said “we don’t allow new visitors coming in and the people already inside have until 6PM to leave”. I have no problem with the garden’s visit policy, but this whole encounter happened with this lady while she was counting the money without looking at us and yelling at the same time. She was extremely rude, impolite, disrespectful. She lacks good manners and clearly wasn’t educated on how to treat tourists and visitors with respect and professionalism. To make it worse, she escorted us to the exit door and closed the door behind us.
My response to the disrespectful owner:
Firstly, yes I rate everything either 1 or 5 as I have clearly mentioned in my first review and you have clearly verified that by going through my profile. Secondly, based on what did you judge that I was afraid to publish my name?? Why would I be afraid from you?? BNH are my name initials. My name is Bader (B), my father’s name is Nafel (N), and my family name is Al-Hathal (H). Thus, BNH. And Q8 stands for my country Kuwait. And for the sake of argument even if I didn’t disclose my name for you just like I did now, Why does it even matter? All the tourist places I visited in Prague, no one asked for my name when I bought a ticket for anything because I am clearly not buying airplane or train tickets. Thirdly, it is funny because you generalized and claimed that anywhere in the world, I am not allowed to visit a place 15 mins before the closing time (however, just like I stated in my first review, I came at 5:43 PM which means I had 17 mins, longer than your policy time of 15 mins), before coming to your garden, I just finished visiting some places in Prague castle which closes at 5 PM. I was allowed to enter the old royal palace AT 4:57 PM, 3 MINS BEFORE CLOSING TIME!! That’s in Prague just few minutes away from your garden. Because they clearly know how to treat tourists and because officially the site is still open as long as it is not 5PM yet!! Your garden is very small for people to stay 30-60 mins. Again, I have no problem with your visit policy. I had a problem with the bad manners of your rude employee and the way we were basically kicked out. Fourthly, based on what did you assume that I knew your employee was Ukrainian? I didn’t know. Not all people can distinguish European accents and even if I did, is that a justification for treating tourists poorly and with disrespect? If Andrea can’t separate her personal life from her professional work, then she is not fit to work in the first place. I can see that you also have been rude to other people who gave you a low rating. It looks like you want people to either rate you good or you start disrespecting them. Your rude and disrespectful response just makes sense now why your employee was rude and disrespectful. By the way, there are other negative reviews about your Ukrainian employee. My advice to people is visit Waldstein Garden, which is just 5 mins away from Vrtba garden. It is free, more beautiful and more importantly has no rude staff. As the saying goes “you can tell a book...
Read moreThe Vrtba Garden in Prague is one of the most beautiful and well-maintained gardens I have ever visited. From the moment you enter, you can feel the care and attention that has gone into preserving its elegance and charm. The garden is full of vibrant flowers, neatly trimmed hedges, and intricate decorative details, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Walking through the paths, it is easy to lose track of time while enjoying the beauty of the carefully designed flower beds and the classical architectural elements that surround the garden.
One of the best features of the Vrtba Garden is the opportunity to sit on a bench and simply admire your surroundings. From certain spots, you can enjoy stunning views of Prague, including the red rooftops, historic buildings, and the rolling hills in the distance. The combination of a beautifully arranged garden and breathtaking city views makes it a perfect place to relax, take photos, or just reflect quietly in nature. The garden feels like a hidden gem, tucked away from the busy streets of the city, offering a moment of calm and serenity.
The design of the garden reflects classic Baroque style, with symmetrical patterns, terraces, and carefully chosen plantings that enhance the sense of order and harmony. Every corner of the garden is picturesque, making it ideal for strolling slowly and discovering the small details, from statues to decorative vases. The garden is also well-maintained, which makes the visit even more enjoyable because everything looks fresh, vibrant, and cared for.
Overall, the Vrtba Garden is a must-see destination in Prague, especially for anyone who appreciates beautiful landscapes and peaceful surroundings. It provides a perfect combination of nature, art, and city views, making it a memorable experience. Whether you are visiting for a short walk or a longer stay to relax on a bench, the garden offers a lovely escape and a chance to enjoy the charm of Prague in a quiet, elegant setting. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful spot to admire both a magnificent garden and the beauty of...
Read moreBaroque cascading garden located at the palace of Jan Joseph of Vrtby. The site has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The area due to its location on the hillside of Petrin Hill is divided into three terraces. In addition to the well-preserved 17th-century garden, visitors can also see a gallery with works by Czech and international artists and a birdhouse with numerous exotic specimens.
Entrance to the garden takes place directly from the street by the so-called. The Terreno Room, where you can admire the frescoes of Wenceslas Wawrzyniec Reiner and the sculptures of Mathias Bernard Braun.
Established on the site of the former vineyards around 1720 at Vrtbovský Palace. The owner Jan Josef Earl of Vrtba entrusted the building of the garden on Petřín hill slope to the architect František Maxmilián Kaňka. With its area of approximately 3,000 m2 it is one of the smaller historic gardens, nevertheless due to the originality of the architectural design of the irregular space on the slope and due to its artistic and historic value of decorations it is a gem of European importance. For 13 years the entry into the garden was forbidden due to state of disrepair (from 1985). From 1993 to 1998 the garden underwent an extensive renovation. Both buildings and the foliage were reconstructed. 15 tapered hornbeams, over 200 hornbeams in the hedges, 18 conical yews, 8 ball-shaped yews and tens of thousands of flowers and shrubs forming ornaments were planted here. The Vrtba garden was re-opened to the public in June 1998.
