We chose this restaurant because it was close to Staropramen Brewery and it had super good reviews. At the very first moment, we were pleased, we liked it, we ordered our drinks and food and waited. And waited.....for around one hour to get our food. We had to ask them how long it will take after 40 minutes and they said 10 more minutes, but we think they just forgot about our food order. They also forgot to bring at the table one beer and we just remembered them after 20 minutes. It was busy when we arrived but after about 20-30 minutes, wasn't that busy anymore, so for sure had time to prepare the meals or to be hospitable to us, to take a look at our table. When the food arrived, it was looking good, smelling good, there were big portions. The only minus was that I asked the beef medium-well and they provided it rare, burned on the outside (probably because they prepared in rush since they forgot about the order). Nobody said "Sorry!" for waiting that much and this is really bad for customer treatment since we talk about a restaurant. Maybe it was a singular case, but this was my personal experience, idk, just wanted to share, so it will help another...
Read moreU vltavy. A unique restaurant! Ok this is the page for u kristiana the restaurant downstair. I was not there. I talk about u vltavy the one on the street but it has no google page so i comment here. U vltavy is the ultimate time travel experience. Apart from the tv screen I'm sure if you walked in in 1900 it looked exactly the same! Incredible! (dont be afraid of stuffed animals tho). The waiter vaclav was friendly and very helpful. Eventhough his english is limited he helped us translate the whole menu. Thank you so much. The food doesn't get more traditional: wild boar, deer, spätzle etc and the quality is amazing! You can taste it was actually cooked and it is not industrial food piled together like in the vast majority of "traditional" czech restaurant. It is really close to staropramen brewery so if you visit I really advise you to give it a try. This is the only restaurant in prague i need to go back to...
Read moreOn 2 January we have visited the restaurant, the staff was friendly and the food was good and was served fast. I felt a bit sad we had no cash to leave a tip (we have just arrived to Prague) and we were confident we are coming again later.
However, since we got a piece of paper instead of proper bill, I had a feeling that something is wrong, I checked some reviews and decided to check our numbers since there were reports of overcharging.
We paid 755 CZK and ordered: Grilled pork neck for 175 CZK Fried chicken schnitzel for 149 CZK Fried jalapeños for 95 CZK Fries for 39 CZK
The above totals to 458, which leaves 317 CZK for 4 beers, while there are no that expensive beer on the menu even if we assume that 68 CZK was a service fee we were not informed about.
Even though we liked the place (that’s why 2 stars) and very likely would have visited it again, we will not do it for...
