I have been in Zapomenuty Cas three times now. Based on my two previous experiences, I decided to suggest this place for a team building. The last time I was there on Monday 30.09.2024, and the service was pretty bad.
When I got there with another colleague at 5 pm, I informed a middle-age waitress with black hair in a pony tail (waitress number 1) that we had a reservation for 20 people and she said abruptly "NO", turned her back on us, and walked briskly to the bar. A younger blond girl with glasses (waitress number 2) came and, without even checking the email confirmation, stated that I was asked via email to confirm the reservation by replying to their email but, since I didn't reply in the end, they automatically cancelled it. I showed her the two-email conversation, being the last one the email where they confirmed my reservation and did not explicitly ask me to reply to it. She asked me if there were any other emails in my inbox, and I showed her that there were no others anywhere to be found. I also explained to her that it does not make sense that I confirm an already-confirmed reservation.
My colleague asked her if they could sit us somewhere, since most of the bar was empty and we had other 18 people on their way and she said that we could potentially be seated in the terrace at the back of the restaurant. We asked her if we could check it out and she said yes, so we went. We checked it and there was only a group of 4 or 5 people in one table; the rest of the terrace was completely empty. It was mildly chilly, but considering the amount of people, we were going to be warm. So we went back to the bar and told waitress number 2 that we were fine with the spot, but we didn't see her react. Then we asked her if we had to put the tables together on our own, to which she said yes.
My colleague and I went back to the terrace and we started doing as we were told: moving tables and chairs. When we were almost done, both waitresses came and without communicating with us they started moving our set-up. Waitress number 1 was moving chairs and tables around in such an aggressive manner, that even the group of people having dinner in the one occupied table stopped talking and started turning around to see what was going on. While this waitress was making this fuss, she was speaking in Czech without telling us what to do, but we stopped intuitively moving stuff around based on the scene. At this point I was very upset because the attitude we were given was completely unnecessary.
Once they were done and people started coming in, we had a fine time. Like the previous two times, the food and drinks were great and the waitresses behaved during our event. Since they did not consider my reservation, they asked us to avoid requesting food for 20 people at once because the kitchen did not have capacity for it, so we did that without objections. We stayed until 10.20 or so, by when we ended up being 5 people.
However, at the cashier there was a third middle-aged waitress with blond hair (waitress number 3), who was also very confrontational. When my colleague (the one I arrived with) failed to specify which beer she had, waitress number 3 got immediately pissed, grabbed a menu, opened it, pointed at the beer menu and made a rude gesture with her hands. The waitress, surprisingly, asked her if she was going to leave a tip, to which my colleague said "no, thank you". When I left I did not leave a tip either.
Overall the food and drinks are great, so I would like to compliment the chefs and the bar for preparing the drinks and the owner for keeping a high standard in this regard. However, I think they need to change the service to be up to par. After the incident with the reservation, I would have expected an apology from the waitresses for the confusion and expected them to tell us to have a drink at the bar or somewhere else in the restaurant while they set up the tables for us, not to mention the expectation to be treated nicely at the cashier as well as being asked if...
Read moreWe stumbled upon Zapomenutý Čas by chance while walking through the neighborhood, not expecting anything special. The place was quiet, with only a few guests, and although some tables were reserved, the staff kindly found us a free table for six.
We started with the beef broth, which surprised us with its generous portion and rich flavor. It was packed with tender meat that fell apart into fibers—just the way I love it. The soup was hearty, well-seasoned, and deeply satisfying.
But the real highlight was the pork knuckle and ribs. The knuckle was perfectly roasted with a crispy crust, and the meat was so soft it practically melted into strands. The creamy horseradish sauce was a perfect match, elevating the dish even further. The ribs were equally tender, with a different but equally delicious flavor profile and a beautiful caramelized crust.
Service was fast and friendly—they let us know in advance that the knuckle would take about 30 minutes, which we appreciated. Prices were very reasonable, the beer selection was excellent, and everyone in our group left happy.
We genuinely recommend Zapomenutý Čas—an unexpected discovery that pleasantly surprised us...
Read moreMy friends and I had dinner here. We were greeted by a blonde waitress who has such an attitude & was quite rude in her behavior. She didn’t smile or interact with us in a proper manner, as if she was forced to work. I’m not sure if her attitude was directed at us specifically or if she treats all customers the same way, but she clearly needs to learn how to provide customer service with warmth and friendliness. If she can’t, perhaps a desk job would be more suitable for her.
On the other hand, the waitress Olina was wonderful, cheerful & extremely friendly, and we truly appreciated her service.
As for the food, we ordered Svíčková that did not mention in its description that it contained pork - which we don’t eat. When the dish was served, we were surprised to find that it contains pork—even the waitresses didn’t seem to know. I strongly urge the restaurant to ensure that dish descriptions are accurate and clearly state all key...
