I went to a Vietnamese restaurant called Ngô Restaurant with my friend F, which had a rating of 4.6 on Google Maps. 🍖 I chose this place because, on the map, they had a dish I love, Thịt Kho Tàu. This dish is braised pork cooked with coconut water and served with rice and fried eggs. It's a dish I always order if it's on the menu. 😭 However, when we arrived, they told us that they had stopped serving Thịt Kho Tàu some time ago after changing the menu. Despite this, F and I ordered four dishes. 🥟 Tapioca Flour Dumplings Transparent tapioca flour dumplings filled with shrimp and vegetables, dipped in sauce, soft and glutinous, also very delicious. 🥭 Mango Salad A refreshing salad with a sweet and sour taste, lots of pepper, and a dressing made with lime juice, black sugar, and fish sauce. It's fresh, sweet, and invigorating. 🍝 Beef Mixed with Rice Noodles Smooth rice noodles, tender beef, and a variety of vegetables make for a fresh and light dish. 🌮 Vietnamese Egg Pancake A golden-yellow large egg pancake, looking very festive, filled with various meats and vegetables. When eaten with the fish sauce-based dip, the thin and soft egg skin emits an enticing aroma.

We came here starving and having a major craving for Vietnamese food. I really wanted to like this place, but the food was lacking and does not have an authentic taste. A lot of the dish we wanted to order base on other people’s photos weren’t available bc it’s seasonal. So we are surprised that the mango sticky rice was offered because the mango was sour and not the right ones that usually comes with this dish; therefore, they masked the sour taste with mango syrup :(. The pho was good, but we are surprised that it doesn’t come with basil or jalapeño or the usual condiments that come with the pho. The salmon rice dish was delicious and I really enjoyed it very much. Restaurants was nice and cozy. Lots of space available. The decoration was cute and reminiscent of Vietnam. The servers were nice, but service was unbelievably slow. I’ve attached photos as proof, we came in at 12:06 and got our food at 1:52. (13:52). Also if you ordered from hot tea section, keep in mind that it’s just a tea bag in a pot of tea, that was so disappointing!

If you are a tourist who doesn’t speak their local language, please try to avoid this restaurant! Food, nothing special. I asked something about the menu in English so the staff knew that I didn’t understand their language. When paying the bill with card, the exact amount $5xx was shown on the screen, I nearly tapped my card directly as the amount matched with that on the receipt. But I saw another amount of $13xx on the same screen. I then checked with the staff and they said I could pay for the tips. When I was still struggling about the two different amounts on the card machine, the staff finally said that I could change the tips amount. What!! The amount of $5xx shown on screen was for tips?! That was obviously a trick!!! If I just tapped the card when seeing the amount on the screen, I would have paid 100% tips! The staff was very tricky. I think that they did it intentionally when they knew that I was a tourist who didn’t know their language!😡 A very poor experience with this restaurant!

Please note that this matter has been resolved. NGO has refunded me for the wines.

Original post: Unfortunately I had a very bad experience here. First of all, the waitress was not sure of the names of the meals and it was a bit confusing when she was giving us the plates. Then we ordered a ‘small’ wine each (specifically saying this) and after our meal, for some reason they were charging us for 2 wines each (doubling the cost for each glass). Apparently they gave us double the amount without telling us and then charged us for it. Once we asked for clarification and told them it would have been nice to have known this, they simply said “well it wasn’t me who took the order”. In my opinion, if there is a mistake like this, it is best to just apologize and correct the error as we had specifically ordered 1 glass of the smallest size. The issue is not with the waitress that made the mistake, it’s with the way they dismissed us after we brought this up. This could have very easily solved, but unfortunately the way they went about this was wrong. I will not be going back as it seems that maybe they are hiding prices and charging more on purpose and I would be afraid to be overcharged on...

We have been there 2 days ago in the afternoon. No more other guests we saw, just only us. The prices on the menu we get in the restaurant, wasn't the same as on the restaurant website we checked before. We were confused.

The restaurant website should be urgently updated with the new prices or was this maybe the "special menu" only for tourists? We don't know, but we were very hungry and had no mood to discuss this topic with the stuff. We leave the restaurant again. Sad about what happened.

For example - restaurant website on 06.07.2023: "TOM-YAMY in my tummy KČSHRIMPS - 97 KČ" In the restaurant: 125 KČ

All meals on the menu in the restaurant, were the prices around +30% higher as on the website. Definitely all meals we checked. We don't believe in around +30% extra charge for current inflation. If the website prices are shown without tax, than this even makes no sense for the customers. Whatever.

Finally we eat a really good and big Pho Soup with chicken (179 KC) in a local shopping mall in Prague, next to the Franz Kafka -...
