The cover fee at the door is 90 DKK plus 60DKK for coatcheck. The DJ either just pressed shuffle play on some random Spotify playlist or he really was their plan C because he had no clue what he was doing at all. He would, at times, just let a song play till the very end, leave a tiny break then play the next song.
At some point he seemed to give up and just started playing raw-style techno with generic English pop songs that Danes love to sing-along to like kindergarteners before he'd mix in Bad Bunny's top 10 hits. Not even kidding, this man pressed the wrong button and turned the whole thing down for like 10 minutes. So we had 10 whole minutes of no music, awkward shouting and just pure confusion. What a night!
The space itself is rather small, so it can get really crowded and suffocating. Like really small that I noticed some dudes (especially drunk Danish men) getting handsy in pretense of walking by any girls dancing. Super creepy.
Also due to the small size of the space and the horrible speaker system, you'll hear more people yelling conversations at each other than actual music unless you stand right next to one of the speakers.
If you really want to perreo, I'm sorry but you're gonna have to book a flight to Puerto Rico or just throw your own house party. Otherwise this place is what Danes likely think a "latin" club should be like.
On the plus side, teetotalers like myself, the water at the...
Read moreLast night I went to Mambo club and I had to pay for my entry ticket because I arrived after midnight, which is fair. However, one of my friends, came in the club after me and the guy charging at the front for the entry tickets said to a group of people in front of her: “guys, just pretend you’re paying and tapping your card here”. This was literally in front of my friend, and she had to pay for her entry ticket after them. This was past 00:00. Very unfair.
Not only this, when I finally paid the entry ticket, they made me pay for a jacket that I was wearing. One of my friends in front of me was also wearing a jacket and she was not told anything. I was held back by a security guy and they made me pay for a light jacket that I was planning to wear or just put around my waist if it got too hot. In other clubs in Copenhagen, they don’t make you pay for it or this is already included in the entry ticket price and you don’t need to pay extra.
After this, it was very hard to enjoy the party with my friends as it had set me on a bad mood. Very unfair on me and made me...
Read moreI am a visitor in Copenhagen and a friend on mine told me about this place. He advised me to download Nyx App and create an account (it took about 4 days for them to allow me, yes, they have to let you create one. If not you can't.), for us to get in for free before 12am.
I tried not to give any consent for marketing, but the app told me if I wouldn't do it, it would be practically impossible for they to accept my account. That's not cool. I know this is not Mambo, but you have to take it into consideration for you to get in for free before 12am.
Also, if you are in before 12, they give you free drinks, yes, free drinks, but small cup ones and plenty of soda, but still free drinks! Props to Mambo for it.
The club is okay, not very big but enough for you to have some fun and not be that close to everyone else. The music was good Latin music, I missed some house music, but still nice.
If I'm coming back to Copenhagen, I'd...
