I honestly don’t understand the positive reviews here. The only explanation I have is that they invite influencers to eat for free in exchange for a positive review. That or this restaurant has gone downhill fast since the positive reviews were left. Either way I would recommend looking at the lowest rated as they reflect the reality of the experience here.
The concept of this place is for everyone to share the food and the first thing they tell you when you sit down is that it is recommended to order 2-3 dishes per person. The menu is made up of side dishes, dumplings (4 pieces) and main dishes. All these dishes are widely different in size so how does it make sense to order potentially three main dishes per person?
Either they need to make all dishes the same size or change their recommendation. We ended up with way too much food for two people, which may have been fine for us if the food were actually good.
Unfortunately the food tasted like what you would get at a cheap noodle box take away next to a subway station. The only difference is you pay Michelin star restaurant prices here. At least the noodle box places are cheap.
Some reviews claim they serve authentic Chinese food here which is a lie. This is european asian food and it is not even done well. Sauces are bland, food tastes old or like it’s been frozen and reheated. I guess if I had to think of something positive I can say the toilet was clean, the staff was friendly and the beer was good. None of that really deserves a single star though since that is the bare minimum I would expect from a...
Read moreWe had very high hopes with this place since it got recommended by close friends. We wanted to book a table but they were fully booked so we called and they told us to just drop by and they would find a table. We arrived knowing we would have to wait since we didn’t book a table, and that’s not a problem. We went on the upstairs part and the lady kindly told us to go downstairs (“hidden dimsum by night”). When we arrived there were many free tables and we asked a waiter for a table. He went to “check” with his boss and they just laughed at us whilst letting us know that they were fully booked. We left disappointed and stayed in front of the restaurant whilst looking for another place. 5min later the waiter comes and tells us we’re “very lucky” because they magically found a table. We were glad but he had a mocking attitude. When we sat he told us that we could only pay with cash or mobile pay (sketchy?). He also explained that we obligated to share dishes (okay..?) and that we should order quickly because it was going to be too busy later. 5min after we ordered, they sat walk ins at the “booked” tables. We heard the two waiters making fun of the guest and making jokes about being “fully booked”. During our meal they accepted at least 5 different groups. So we don’t understand why they couldn’t tell us from the start to just wait a bit for a table, which shouldn’t have been a problem? Otherwise the food came quickly and was very good, we recommend the sweet and sour fried chicken! We had to take out cash which cost us 45DKK...
Read moreThis is the place to go if you want authentic dimsum! The flavors were pretty similar to what my Chinese mother makes but it felt like some flavors were missing in some dishes (hence 4 stars). Despite that, I’d say this really is the best place in Copenhagen for dimsum. Some reviews say it’s too expensive compared to the cost of the ingredients, but you need to consider that you’re also buying artisanship. Making dimsum is a very time consuming activity if made well and requires skill. Considering the cost of hiring skilled chefs with a restaurant in central Copenhagen (high rent), the price of dimsum is really affordable.
The waiter was really friendly and alert, introduced all the dishes well and made sure we had everything we needed. He worked alone for a while with an almost fully booked restaurant, but still managed to professionally help everyone.
I also ordered takeaway, and my Cantonese mother in law approved the flavors.
Decent waiting time for the food as well (maybe 15-20 min for the first dish to arrive). Dimsum takes time if made from scratch, so don’t expect the food to arrive straight away.
The restaurant does not accept foreign cards for some reason, but I tried my Swedish card and it worked. I’d recommend to check with the restaurant prior to arrival so you can prepare cash if your card is not accepted.
Definitely revisiting this place to eat more...
